The gryphon is one of the most promising designs for keel boats that are designed for wildspace travel. It is smartly built for such a small ship allowing the helmsman to both maneuver the sails and fly the ship at the same time (A great ship for young adventurers into wildspace). It cost much more then the caravel or cog, but this is due to its great design... you get what you pay for... and with the Gryphon you get great armor class for such a small ship.
The variable amount of tonnage of cargo is really dependent on how much space captian wants to use for cargo, the more cargo the less space for the crew. Much like many ships designed for wildspace, this flat-bottomed ship is poorly designed for riggers of ocean travel.
