Gallant
“No love is as pure as one's first love.”

The Gallant is the most pure and romantic of all characters. His every word is poetry and each love is as if it was his first love. He is blessed with grace and charm that is found only those that pursue the gallant prestige class. They are heroic characters and do battle to defend beauty, innocence, love and freedom not for some perverse desire for bloodlust. Some gallants find their lives ended in tragedy in the pursuit of love and romance.
Those who see them selves as lovers and not brutes see themselves as gallants and as such a bard is most likely to follow the path of the gallant. Rogues that multiclass, as sorcerer, wizard or a cleric to a god or goddess of love would also pursue the path of the gallant. For druids, paladins, rangers and wizards can also pursue this path but few of them do so. Fighter types that do pursue this class often have a few bard levels before pursuing the gallant class.
    Hit Dice: d8.

Requirements
To qualify to become a gallant, a character must fulfill the following criteria.
    Alignment: Any good alignment
    Base Attack Bonus: +4
    Bluff: 5 ranks
    Diplomacy: 5 ranks
    Perform (poetry): 8 ranks
Feats: Weapon Focus (rapier or longsword)
Spells: Ability to cast arcane or divine spells of 1st level

Class Skills
The gallant's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Bluff (Cha), Climb (Str), Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Balance (Dex), Diplomacy (Chr), Hide (Dex), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Knowledge (all skills, taken individually), Move Silently (Dex), Perform (Cha), Profession (Wis), Riding (Dex), Scry (Int, exclusive skill), Sense Motive (Wis), Speak Language (Int), Spellcraft (Int).

Skill Points at each level: 4 + Int modifier.

Class Features
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The gallant is proficient with all simple, martial weapons, light and medium types of armor and shields. However, Gallants are more interested in quality and appearance than in the armor's actual protection. They will don a gleaming suit of chain mail instead of a dented suit of plate mail. A suit of studded leather +1 is more appealing to them than the gleaming chain, but padded leather +4 is even better (i.e., the bigger the magical bonus the better, regardless of the armor type). However, of all forms of armor, elven chain mail is most prized by the Gallant
The same logic holds true for all of their equipment.
The Code of the Gallant: Gallants all live by a code of ethics that has slowly evolved over the years. A Gallant must remain true to this code, or lose the ability to progress in this prestige class. If he is regain advancement as a gallant, he must seek out a priest who will listen to his transgressions and cast atonement upon him (such priests will often require some form of penance).
©  Defend lovers, the innocent, and those of the opposite sex and aid them in times of need (unless they are enemies or hostile).
©  Never marry nor solemnly vow to love only one person.
©  Never retreat from combat until allies of the opposite sex have done so first (unless they are fellow Gallants).
©  Never overstay his welcome at any place.
©  Spend at least half of his money on the innocent or romance.
©  Own only what he can carry with him.
Spells per Day: A gallant continues advancing in spellcasting ability as well as gaining the abilities of his new class. Thus, when a gallant gains a new even–numbered level, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in whatever spellcasting class he belonged to before he added the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained (wild shape, additional feats, and so on).
For example, if Cyrano, a 6th level bard, advances to 2nd level as a gallant, he gains new spells as if he had risen to 7th level as a bard, but uses the other gallant aspects of level progression such as base attack bonus and save bonuses. If he next gains a level as a bard, making him an 7th level bard/2nd level gallant, he gains spells as if he had risen to 8th level as a bard.
If a character had more then one spellcasting class before he became a gallant, the player must decide which class to assign each level of gallant for purpose of determining spells per day.
Romantic Appeal: The romantic appeal of a gallant is so strong that those of the opposite gender react more favorable toward the gallant. However, if the encounter includes mixed genders, those of the same gender as the gallant have their initial attitude lowered one category (as jealousy rears its ugly head, i.e., someone who is friendly is now indifferent) and are harder to influence. The charts below are guidelines to help reflect the romantic appeal of the gallant.

When a gallant is in the same company as his own gender, and those of the opposite gender are not present, use the standard chart as given in the DMG (page 149).
Grace: At 1st level the gallant, infused with true love, is graced with having +2 luck bonus to AC and saves.
Luck of the Gallant: At 3rd level the gallant is blessed with the power of good fortune, which is usable once per day. This extraordinary ability allows you to reroll one roll that you have just made. You must take the results of the reroll, even if it's worse then the original roll. At 6th level the gallant gains this ability to use this ability twice per day and each three levels thereafter gains an additional use per day.
Squire: A gallant is in heart of hearts a wanderer and is likely to never build a stronghold or gathers a large body of men at arms. But at 4th level, a Gallant gains a squire (a 1st-level fighter). This squire is absolutely devoted to the Gallant, maintains his equipment in top order, and accompanies him on all of his quests.
Weapon Specialization: At 7th level a gallant gains the Weapon Specialization feat with the weapon he has Weapon Focus with. Typically this is a rapier or longsword.
Last Recital: At 10th level the gallant's love for life and true love is so powerful that the death must wait till he gives his final farewell to the world. This last power allows the gallant to remain conscious when reduced to 0 hit points or less. Even then his only action is to recite one final tragic poem for those who will listen.
If the Gallant is defending love, innocence, or beauty (including members of the opposite sex), the gallant can continue to take a partial action till reaching –10 hit points. Then he recites his poem and dies.
