The pyroserpent is one of the most deadly magical beast to be found in the phlogiston. Its scales are like the color of a rainbow and when uncoiled it has a length of 15 feet.
Combat: The pyroserpent attacks with its bite and if it can get a hold of the victim it then starts to constrict.
Blend into the Phlow (Ex): The pyroserpents rainbow colored scales make them hard to spot in the phlogiston, it requires a spot check DC 20 to do so.
Constrict (Ex): A pyroserpent deals 1d4+3 points of damage with a successful grapple check against Medium-size or smaller creatures.
Explosive Death (Ex): The pyroserpent has a very special defense that causes anyone who knows about these creatures to think twice before attacking. If the pyroserpent is killed while in the phlogiston, its body ruptures in small flaming burst 5 feet in diameter doing 5d6 points.
Flight (Su): A pyroserpent moves its body by means of telekinetic flight. If a pyroserpent moves into a
antimagic field it loses its ability to fly.
Implant (Ex): A pyroserpent that hits with its bite attack can inject an eggs into the opponent’s body. The affected creature must succeed at a Fortitude save (DC 14) to avoid implantation. Sometimes the pyroserpent implants an unconscious or otherwise helpless creature (which gets no saving throw). The eggs gestates for one week before hatching into 28 fine-sized pyroserpents that begin to eat thier host. At this time the victim takes 1d2 points of ability drain to strength, dexterity and constitution. Those infested by the pyroserpent young cannot restore lost ability untill the infestation is removed. When either strength or constitution reaches zero, the victim dies and the young pyroserpents emerge from the corpse. A
remove disease rids the victim of the tiny pyroserpents/eggs that infest his or her body.
Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, the pyroserpent must hit with its bite attack. If it gets a hold, it can constrict.
Skills: Pyroserpents receive a +4 racial bonus to Hide, Listen, and Spot checks and a +8 racial bonus to Balance checks.
In the Spheres The pyroserpent body parts have many uses but prove profoundly difficult, because it is nearly impossible to kill a pyroserpent without the creature exploding, completely destroying all body parts. The only known way to do this is to trap the creature and take it into wildspace, where it is unable to live. The pyroserpent will die within one hour of removal from the phlogiston. This not even work as the serpent will thrash wildly trying to escape its bonds and return as quickly as possible to the phlogiston. Much of the time this thrashing results in its death where it will erupt into flames and completely incinerating the pyroserpents remains. In wildspace it does not explode.
