The lavaworm looks as though it is made of living semi molten rock. It moves about like an inchworm, hunching its body up as it moves its end forward, and lowering its body as its head moves forward. The creatures have a large maw at either end, which periodically expels noxious gas smelling strongly of sulfur.
Combat: These creatures never attack other creatures that exhibit at least the same temperature as their own (such as fire elementals), unless they are looking for a creature on which to lay their eggs, otherwise they attack anything cooler than itself that moves.
Breath Weapon (Su): Every five rounds, the lavaworm can spew a great cloud of sulfuric gas in a 20 radius, those with in this cloud must make a Reflex saving throw DC 16 (for DMs who want to use bigger lavaworms use the following formula to determine save DC: 10 + ½ hit dice + constitution modifier). Those failing the save are blinded for 1d6 minutes. It is possible for an affected character to suffer blindness for certain number of minutes, only to fail another saving throw before those minutes are over, if so add the total number of minutes together to get the total duration of blindness.
Burn (Ex): Those bitten by a lavaworm must succeed at a Reflex save or catch fire. The fire burns for 1d4 rounds (see Catching on Fire, page 86 of the
Dungeon Master's Guide). The save DC varies with lavaworm's HD/Size (For the DM who what to be more accurate use the following formula: 10+ ½ hit dice + dexterity modifier). A burning creature can take a move-equivalent action to put out the flame.
Creatures hitting a lavaworm with natural attacks must likewise make a reflex save to avoid catching fire.

Burst of Speed (Ex): Once every five minutes the lava worm can muster up a movement rate of 50 for 1d4 rounds. It uses this burst for speed to run down its prey. Many creatures are surprised by this burst of speed (DM may decide to add 2 Circumstance Modifier to Spot check for purpose of surprise).
Elemental: Immunte to poison, sleep, paralysis, and stunning. Not subject to critical hits.
Fire Subtype (Ex): Fire immunity, double damage from cold except on a successful save.
Heat (Ex): A lavaworm generates so much heat that its mere touch deals additional damage in addition to the possibility of catching fire (see Burn above).
In The Spheres Lavaworms are found only on firebodies, volcanos and other very hot areas. It is not likely most adventures will come across these creatures as the terrain will likely require magical protect to safely venture into.
