Round 4:
The fog covered forecastle of the vipership echoes with the sound of steel against steel and muttered curses as attacks strike home....
Holland yells, "Robert, cancel the fog cloud!" then takes a running start and launches himself towards the ram-nose of the viper. His arms and legs extended wide out ready to grab any purchase they reach. Lacking Billy or Deigatt's skill at manipulating the gravity plane, however, Holland finds himself bobbing in the gravity plane, just out of reach of the vipership.
"NO!! We need it!" Nilaroo yells as he fights. Nilaroo tries to keep maneuvering so that only one scro can face him at a time, but they are skilled and back him against the railing, one to either side, one to the front. Nilaroo's two handed sword lashes out and slashes open the throat of the one to his right, that scro drops to the deck bleeding copiously all over the deck. Reversing his swing, Nilaroo brings his blade back around in time to block the center scro's scimitar. The scro to the left finds his attack foiled by Nilaroo's surprisingly quick footwork, as the gromman steps across the body of the scro he'd killed and places his back to the fog, so that now the remaining two scro are both again to his front.
Kain draws his shortsword quickly, pushing himself forward towards the Scro. With both hands on the hilt of his sword, Kain lunges toward the Scro's midsection. His blade lands, but the tip hits one of the scro's studs and the thrust results in a painful bruise rather then an actual wound.
The powerful scro tosses his pistol away as he replies to Kain's attack with a back-handed scimitar swipe which leaves a burning, painful cut on Kain's mid-section, though it's only a flesh wound.
Grigree attacks with both sword and dagger swiftly, both leave vicious cuts on his opponent. The scro growls in pain and makes two sweeping attacks with his scimitar in reply. Grigree ducks beneath the first, and tries to leap above the second, but it clips his foot with the flat edge and leaves a small bruise.
Catching a glimpse of a face, Italapate claws across it with his climbing gloves. He feels the sharp hooks sink into flesh as the gloves pop both eyes of the scro beneath him. The scro gives a bloodcurdling scream and reaches for his face as blood begins to pour like rain from his eye sockets and what remains of his nose. His body stills beneath Italapate as his blood continues to pour out onto the deck...
The other scro in the pile roll away and get to their feet, jabbering among themselves in their guttural language, though Italapate can no longer see them in the fog.
Talus thrusts again with his dagger, angling for a gap in the scro's armour. The blade sinks deeply into the creatures body, causing it to howl in pain. The scro grabs talus by the shoulders and lifts him off the deck and bites savagely at Talus' neck with his fangs. His teeth leave scratches, but don't manage to get a good grip.
As Talus is lifted up, Seguld moves within the fog, jumping off the ram onto the deck. As he lands on the deck the gnomes bad leg gives out for a moment and he slips, dropping his mace.
Billy turns to Deigatt and asks, "Do you think we can break into the holds? If we could sneak inside and disable the helm, we would have a much easier time. In one way, it would 'blind' them..."
Deigatt grunts his agreement. He follows Billy to the belly of the ship and holds onto the halfling by the ankles as Billy investigates the cargo doors. "Hif these were ships hon patrol," Deigatt says lowly, "then they're not likely to have hany cargo."
Raken continues to climb the rope hand over hand, finally pulling himself onto the deck of the vipership next to Nilaroo. he drops to the deck, weapon in hand.
Leera drops onto the deck just behind Raken.
With a mighty heave of his large legs Ferric leaps from the wreckage toward the vipership. Like Holland he is obviously unskilled in this sort of diving, but his jump is much more powerful and by sheer brute force he manages to just reach the tip of the vipership's nose ram and grab on.
Moving his hands in a whirling motion, Robert continues to intone, "Swirl, Spin, Whirl, Wind, I summon thee, to Blow for me." A small eddy of air increases in speed and becomes a small vortex of dust, which hovers and floats before Robert like a small dog awaiting a thrown stick from its owner.
Round 5:
Holland growls desperately as the natural drift of the gravity plane begins to push him back towards the wreckage and away from the vipership. He moves his arms and legs awkwardly in an attempt to get to the vipership but to no avail.
Loading his crossbow, Robert says to the wind, "Take me over to that ship." Then he steps off the wreckage and bobs up and down on the gravity plane. The vortex of winds moves behind him and begins pushing the priest slowly towards the vipership.
In the foggy forward section...
Grigree thrusts swiftly with his longsword while slashing with his dagger. As the scro dodges back from the dagger the longsword slips past his guard unnoticed and sinks deep into the scro's belly. Grigree twists the blade as he shoves it in up to the quillons then uses his foot to push the dying scro off his blade.
'Pate will roll away from the dying scro and draws his tomahawk. A sudden movement to his right alerts him to another scro, whose savage cut with a scimitar slashes into 'Pate's gut. The scimitar draws blood as it breaks several of the bones in the shaman's vest. Gasping for breath the priest swings back with his tomahawk as he gets to his feet, but the hasty blow misses wildly.
Talus stabs again into the chest of the scro holding him in the air, as the scro continues to gnaw at Talus' throat. His massive fangs begin to draw blood as they rip small chunks of flesh from the half-elf's neck.
Seguld feels about on the deck for his dropped mace, and picks it up just as a large form looms out of the fog moving quickly towards the struggle between Talus and the scro. Seguld is knocked backward with a grunt as the scro runs into him.
Rapier in hand, Ferric climbs up the ram into the fray.
Aft of the fog...
Nilaroo continues to fight as one possessed, swinging wildly with his massive blade at one of the scro facing him, as the other turns to face Raken. Nilaroo's cut misses by inches but the scro's scimitar leaves a nasty slash in the primate's massive biceps.
Raken viciously slashes at the opposing scro with close, precise cuts of his blade. One of those lands, leaving a gash in the scro's leg but Raken himself dodges the scro's return cut.
Leera cowers behind Raken and Nilaroo, watching for an opening to use her spells.
Without speaking, Kain wields his blade against the Scro. He continues to work low against the Scro, and manages to land a solid hit.
The scro growls and pain and instead of counterattacking, he spreads the fingers of his left hand wide as he grunts something in his language. A spurt of flames comes billowing out from his hand to engulf Kain, extending in a fan about five feet long. Kain dodges backwards, avoiding most of the flames, but it's not enough and the rest surround his chest and torso. He screams in pain from the burns and drops to the deck unconscious.
On the bottom of the vipership...
The cargo doors appear to be padlocked or barred from the inside. Billy shakes his head in disappointment after Deigatt lifts him back up. "I don't think that I can get us in, big guy. Can you do anything?"
"Habsolutely," Deigatt replies. "Stand back." When Billy is out of the way, Deigatt swings his axe over his head and down onto the bottom edge of the door while still keeping his footing sure on the ship bottom of the ship. the wood shudders and splinters as the minotaur halls back and prepares to swing again.
Round 6:
Holland curses as the gravity drift brings him back to the wreckage and he climbs back onto it.
In the foggy forward section...
Moving aft in the fog, Grigree sees a scro's back before him and sinks both blades into it. The scro drops to the deck as its life bubbles in a pink froth from the two wounds.
'Pate throws his eyes wide open, his teeth bared. He growls and gutturals nonsense words "Coyo booga boogity Talapas pee calou calay...Sooooey! Soooey! piggy boo!" The scro's face goes from vicious to terrified in two seconds flat and it turns and runs aft out of sight in the fog.
Gasping for breath as the scro's jaws clamp down on his throat Talus again stabs with his dagger... and takes a deep gasping breath as the scro slumps to the deck, finally dead.
Ferric slips onto the deck next to talus, rapier in hand, and looks with approval at the dead scro.
Several feet ahead of them in the fog, Seguld takes advantage of the element of surprise and swings his mace in an overhand arc towards the groin of his opponent. The scro grunts in pain as the blow lands, and bends over slightly, ruining his own scimitar slash at the gnome's head.
Aft of the fog...
Bleeding from his wounds, Nilaroo continues to attack but his slash Misses again. He manages to parry the scro's counterattack, hover.
Raken bashes his blade into his opponent's arm with bruising force, but the scro's reply leaves the druid gasping and favoring a bruised side of his own.
Four more scro climb up onto the deck from the rear ladder well as the scro who downed Kain steps towards the trio backed against the fog bank.
Leera suddenly steps around Raken staying carefully away from his battle, and quietly mumbles a few words and makes a quick gesture or two. Immediately, a spinning pattern of color appears in front of her. The four new scro stare, mesmerized, at the light show. The scro who downed Kain ignores the light show and begins mumbling an incantation of his own.
Robert reaches the aft main deck of the vipership and scrambles over the side. As he lands he quickly sees Leera, Nilaroo, Raken, and the scro they are fighting before him, the scro are between him and his shipmates. Robert's zephyr comes to a stop next to him.
On the bottom of the viper, Deigatt continues chopping at the cargo door while Billy watches.
