Round 7:
Standing next to the catapult on the STAR, Talus watches the chaotic melee on the scorpionships deck vainly in search of a target for the arrow held on his bow.
Still invisible, Leera emerges from the stairwell and heads toward the Scro ship. As she climbs over the railing, she passes by Raken and tells him "Raken. It's Leera. I'm heading over to the Scorpion. Watch out for Holland for me." She then climbs onto the Scorpionship.
Hearing this, a thin smile creases Raken's face. "Seem awfully...worried about him, aren't you?" he says to the thin air that Leera is hidden within. He nods and takes command of the stairs. "Celestran help us if they have more scro on that ship" he mutters to no one in particular.
Seguld slips his arquebus over his shoulder again with a small curse. He carefully draws a flask from his pouch. He then tears a piece of fabric from his shirt. "GotAnyFire?" he asks Robert, as he scans the scorpion's head region.
"Nothing that isn't all webbed up." Robert replies while sighting along his crossbow.
On the scorpion, Grigree swings his swords against the scro standing before him and Nilaroo. The blades cut deep on either side of the scro's neck and he falls backwards across the railing and slides down to the scorpion's side to bob lifeless on the gravity plane.
Still up on the scorpion's tail, 'Pate leans his chin on his hands and watches the battle. "Ooo, that was a nice blow. Go get 'em, Deig! Hey, piggies! Yer momma makes silk purses!" he encourages the STAR's crew and heckles the piggies.
Galan feints to the left, dodging quickly under the wounded scro's blade. He lunges low, putting his weight behind his blow. The scro sidesteps his attack and responds with two vicious slashes of his scimitar. One leaves a large gash across Galan's chest, while the other cuts deep into his left biceps.
With his shortsword in hand, Kain rushes into the fray, moving more agilely than usual. Stepping to Galan's left hand side, Kain tries a straight-armed slash at the Scro. Distracted by his successful attacks against Galan the scro fail to see Kain's onrushing blade and takes it deep in his chest. As Kain withdraws his shortsword pink, frothy blood bubbles around the wound, and the scro drops to the deck with his face turning blue.
Nilaroo grimly slashes with his two-handed sword at the closest scro, trying to avoid from getting too close for his sword work. The scro takes the blow solidly in the side, with a grunt, despite the blood which coats Nilaroo's sword when he pulls it back, and replies with a cut of his own, which the Gromman nimbly avoids.
Deigatt bellows, "Kain, haid Galan! Hitalapate, secure the catapult hand come down to the top deck! Grigree, Nilaroo, keep hat those scro, keep them hoff the top deck has you can!" After yelling out orders, Deigatt glances to the SILENT STAR and then down the ladderwell beside him. Seeing a scro climbing up the ladder, Deigatt stomps loudly on the deck and yells, "BOO!!!!" The scro scurries back down the ladder.
Ferric continues to battle the scro in front of him. The creature spins his scimitar faster then Ferric expected, shifting down at the last minute his blade cuts viciously across Ferric's buttocks, leaving a deep gash and slashed trousers behind. With a grim smile on his face the Ferric says, "These were my favorite pants that you cut. I'll do you for that." So saying he launches into a pair of attacks. Hindered by the lack of space the scro is unable to avoid one of Ferric's thrusts and is pierced through his sword arm. Unable to raise his blade the goblinoid is pierced through the lung by Ferric's next lunge and slides to the deck, frothy pink blood spilling from his chest.
Round 8:
Crouching behind the gunwale, Talus utters a series of arcane phrases under his breath. Scattering a spray of sand from one of his belt pouches, there is no visible effect. But after a moment one of the scro fighting Grigree and Nilaroo slumps onto the deck of their ship in slumber.
Leera climbs down the starboard ladder well of the scorpion. She finds a room strewn with a few orc bodies, and open to space where the portside claw was destroyed. Once belowdecks, she heads towards the bow of the ship.
Seguld loosens the flask's stopper, and slides the fabric in leaving only a little hanging loose. Seguld then holds his left hand in the shape of a pistol pointing upwards. As he makes a move as if shooting, a small flame lifts from his fingertip and ignites the cloth stuffed into the bottles neck.
Robert continues scanning the battle across his crossbow's sights, looking for a valid target.
As another scro steps froward to take his companion's place, Grigree cuts him down with two swift slashes across the throat.
Beside him, Nilaroo and his opponent exchange blows, Nilaroo parries as a scimitar slash, and responds with an overhand cut which is parried in turn.
'Pate shakes his tomahawk at Galan below him. He dances a little jig in the catapult station, bobbing his head, and shuffling his feet. He continues to shake his tomahawk at Galan. "Coyo Talapas, mia ga Tyamoor con tiajalo," he chants in a singsong pattern.
"I could have handled this myself," Galan says ruefully to Kain, grunting as he narrowly blocks a well-timed blow aimed at his torso. He counters with a swift slash of his own which comes up short.
Ducking and dodging, Kain doesn't answer as he looks for a chance to strike. After a few seconds, he lunges forward, thrusting his shortsword at the Scro before him. Unfortunately, his foot comes down in some blood and slides out from under him. Kain falls to the deck on his stomach, barely managing to avoid skewering himself with his own sword.
Raken continues guarding the stairs, making sure no one boards the STAR.
Deigatt orders, "Ferric, back hup Grigree hand Nilaroo has you can."
Ferric limps back and picks up his bow but constantly darts quick glances to make sure there are no scro free behind him.
Round 9:
A scro emerges from the starboard ladder well behind Deigatt, but is instantly perforated by arrows and bolts from Billy, Talus, and Robert.
Leera finds the door that she assumes leads to the bridge open. She enters carefully and finds it much as she expected. The room contains a large, silver statuette of a massively muscled orc, he has two red gems for eyes and is set in what appears to be a shrine of some sort. Also in this room is a cast iron strongbox standing beneath a chart table. A desk-sized round table inlaid with multi-colored stones takes up one corner of this room. The center of the room holds a closed, coffin-like contraption with a set attached to it at one end.
Seguld pauses only long enough to assure himself that the flames has caught, then he releases the flask, end over end towards the Scorpion's head. "FireInTheHole!" he cries out. The flasks slams into the webs and bursts into flames. Within moments the webs have burned away, killing the scro trapped within it, though the echoes of the their dying screams and the smell of their barbecued flesh remains. Fortunately, the scro vessel's iron armor prevents the fire from spreading to the ship itself.
Grigree turns back to the left and tries to catch the scro trading blows with Nilaroo by surprise with a powerful, wide swing. His ploy works, and the scro drops like a pole-axed pig.
'Pate continues heckling. "Snrk, Snrk," he cries imitating a pig. "Hey, you walking bacon factories! Sausage! Sausage! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-EEEE! SOOOOOOOOOO-EEEEEE! Hey guys! Is this fight BOAR-ing or what!!!!!"
Galan drops low, slashing at the scro's legs. Amazingly, he takes the scro down, opening a large artery in his leg which quickly bleeds the scro's life out onto the deck with that of his comrades.
Raken calls for Talus to guard the stairs while he and Vais head over to the scorpionship to begin healing the wounded.
"Billy! Robert! Keep a sharp watch hon this ship for hidden crew!" Deigatt calls to the STAR. "We don't want hany surprises."
