Round 4:
Holland maintains contact between the STAR and the scro ship.
'Pate climbs up to the tail.
Deigatt says, "Ferric and I will cross, Watch for a counter attack!" Deigatt then leaps carefully across, axe in hand.
Nocking an arrow Ferric leaps the railings and prepares to fire at any aggressive foes. Hearing the voices near the stairwells the large warrior booms, "Seems as though we have the advantage. Throw down your arms and come out slowly. _Any_ resistance will end in the entire crew's execution. You have 1 minute before we slaughter you with out quarter."
There is no response from below.
With the decks clear of enemy soldiers, Raken diverts his attention to the heavens once more. He keeps watch for other enemy ships, but doesn't see any.
Seeing that none of the scro are out on the deck, Grigree catches his breath and draws his second sword.
With a slight tension on the string of his bow, Talus watchfully gazes across the battered scorpionship, watchful for any sign of an attack.
Seguld stands ready for a moment as the boarders unite the two vessels. Suddenly a look of panic crosses his face. He hobbles over to the far side of the STAR and with one pistol ready he leans his head, arm and shoulder of the edge, examining the wallboards for boarders. Seguld then moves slowly around the edge looking for any boarders.
Leera casts a quick spell. Her form wavers for but an instant before she has completely disappeared from sight.
Walking over to the railing of the STAR, Kain leaves his crossbow by his feet. Keeping a pair of daggers in hand, Kain stands ready as the boarding party investigates the Scorpionship.
Nilaroo moves next to the ballista and begins making another route down by ripping the shattered planks up.
"You sure these are scro?" Robert calls out, "They look like orcs to me. Smell like orcs too."
Galan stands wary, keeping his sword in hand.
Billy loads his crossbow and watches carefully.
Suddenly, Seguld and Robert spot some movement by the large hole just above the scorpion's "head", a group of muscular looking scro in well maintained, black and silver studded leather armor come pouring out. The first two grip arquebuses in their hands, and carry sheathed scimitars at the sides, those after have the scimitars out. The swarm out of the hole, then back across the scorpionship's hull towards its maindeck.
Seguld cries out, "HeyGuys! Company'sComin'!"
Round 5:
Holland continues to maintain contact with the scro ship.
No on the tail, 'Pate quickly realizes he's the only living thing up there. Grabbing one of the large, round catapult shots, he looks over the side for a likely area to drop it below. Seeing the aft portion of the scorpion's maindeck is free of his companions, he drops the stone over the side. It slams into the deck, smashing and splintering several deck planks.
"Show no mercy!" Ferric roars as he begins firing his longbow at the oncoming Scro. His first arrow slams into the scro's shoulder, knocking the scro off balance. The arquebus fires, releasing a puff of smoke, but the bullet zings high and exits into wildspace. Ferric instinctively ducks as the arquebus fires and his second arrow flies wide, sinking into the planks of the STAR alongside.
Another scro leaps onto the deck alongside Ferric, slashing with his scimitar. The blade leaves a nasty red line across Ferric's left thigh as he struggles to avoid it.
On the opposite side Nilaroo grabs his sword and stands just as the onrushing scro steadies and fires. Nilaroo ducks to the side just in time and the bullet splinters the deck instead of his skull. As the scro hurls his firearm aside and draws his scimitar, Nilaroo raises his sword to meet the rest of the onrushing scro. This scro slash horizontally across the gromman's midsection, drawing no blood but leaving a nasty bruise on the abdomen beneath the chainmail. The gromman slashes back with one of his vicious, two-handed chops, shattering the scro's left shoulder. Unlike most opponents, the scro doesn't drop lifeless, but instead raises his scimitar to parry the next attack, albeit with glazed eyes.
Raken picks out a scro soldier and begins chanting. "Celestran's fellowship upon thee" he says.
Deigatt sees he can't move forward, the bow is too crowded. He quickly incants a spell and motions at the scro who attacked Ferric with the scimitar, sending two blue, mystical balls of energy slamming into the creature. The scro staggers back, then turns quickly towards Deigatt.
Grigree leaps forward in a short glide, landing on top of the scorpion's ballista. He staggers for a moment, then brandishes his two swords and prepares to take on the first comer.
Seguld quickly grabs his pistol and without hesitation, lets the shot fire. His shot grazes the temple of one of the port-side scro, leaving a large, bleeding gash. The scro wipes the blood off and continues towards the scorpion's maindeck.
Talus murmurs words to another spell, the syllables sliding off your hearing and past your memory. Crushing the web of a tiny spider found in the hold, the spell takes form as a great series of spider webs branching across the starboard claw and bow of the scro ship, reaching up the side and around 5 of the scro trapping the creatures within.
Leera positions herself on the third step from the top of the stairwell leading below decks.
Sheathing his boot daggers, Kain scoops up his crossbow with his left hand before vaulting over the railing of the STAR to the Scorpionship. He stops by the others, and runs the fingers of his left hand over his brow. Kain frowns as he scans the maindeck. The look of concentration is still on his face.
Robert fires his crossbow at a scro, but the bolt flies high, missing its target. Robert quickly and smoothly reloads.
Galan drops into an en garde position, but sees no one near enough to fight.
Billy holds his crossbow ready, but sees no targets.
Round 6:
Holland continues to maintain contact with the scro ship.
'Pate again drops a stone catapult shot over the side, this time the shot slams into the skull of one of the dead scro bodies on the maindeck, pulverizing it while shattering the plank beneath. 'Pate realizes the battle below will make dropping these very hazardous, soon.
Dropping his bow Ferric slides his rapier and main gauche for their scabbards and moves to meet the closest foe while backing up to allow his comrades to attack. The scro with the scimitar, seeming to ignore the wounds from Deigatt's spell, makes a vicious cut to Ferric's head, Ferric only just manages to get his main-gauche up in time to catch the blow. Ferric makes an immediate counter thrust with his rapier but the scro manages to pull his scimitar back in time to deflect that attack in turn.
Raken calls to one of the scro in Talus' webbing "Don't worry. I will not harm you. Sit tight while we finish this... fracas."
Deigatt starts as a sudden explosion from the ladder well to his right heralds another scro climbing up from below, smoking starwheel pistol in hand. Reacting quickly, the minotaur swings his great axe low along the deck. The blade slices cleanly across the scro's neck, and he tumbles lifelessly back down the ladder well, blood spurting from his neck.
Grigree slashes down viciously with his longsword, striking again into the shoulder wound of the scro Nilaroo pounded earlier, his blade finishes the job of separating the shoulder from the rest of the body and the scro drops to the ground in two parts.
Talus curses and holds his bow ready to fire, seeing no openings in the chaotic melee before him.
Seguld slips his spent pistol away, and whips the arquebus around from his back and sets himself on one knee. Staring down the barrel, he finds no safe targets.
Leera remains invisibly on the eelship's stairwell.
Kain waits with his shortsword in hand as he watches the battle unfold before him. Rubbing the palm of his left hand against the leg of his breeches, Kain looks to be concentrating.
Nilaroo slams into the scro with the arquebus, who manages to get his scimitar up in time to block, but can't resist the gromman's strength. The blade inexorably shatters the scro's parry and the massive two-handed blade splits his skull from top to bottom like a watermelon.
Robert holds his fire alongside Seguld, all the visible scro on his side being in the web.
Galan turns on instinct and sees two scro climbing out of the portside ladder well. Galan lunges forward, leaving a deep puncture in the first scro's thigh, but the creature reacts skillfully, bring his scimitar around in an attack which forces Galan back and buys the scro time.
Billy holds his fire and watches the battle unfold.
