What started as a bored attempt to make a foam, 3d Elven Man-O-War, recently became a little more interesting when I bought a hacksaw, some wood, a bit of wood glue, and a sanding block. Below You'll find all sorts of ships I've made into 3D wooden miniatures, mostly based upon the 3D ship cards from the Spelljammer: War Captains Companion. As me, and my roomie Josh (a mate staying with me for a bit) make and paint more, I'll ad them, but note the pics are taken with a really cruddy digital camera, and aint great quality.
If anyone REALLY wants some of these, I'd be happy to make em, merely asking money for postage & supplies (I cant legally make money of this, they aint my designs, and nor do I want to). I've been doing a little customising, and note the pics below may be slightly different from the end result, for instance as I write this my Wasps have no legs, but I am meaning to put some on there. I have also done a few of my own ships, like the Stirge, but they're either not painted or finished to the desired state and won't be up until they are. Colour schemes are basic, but requests are done, I use citadel warhammer paints for colour reference, and while so far I've done all the construction and Josh has done one painting/glueing flippers (the flippers are generally made of foam not wood), he may do more.

Josh painted and did a bit of work on this one, mainly adding the flippers and the eye-sections. Note while you probably can't see it well in this crap pic, the eyes are actually rounded (lookin like bugged out fish eyes), and are lil blue sparkly beads, to give the feel of the large glass domes on the sides of the hammer. At my suggestion he added some rear horizontal flippers, and he did an ace paintjob on the whole thing, it looked rather devastating on the battlefield - especially next to the bodgy paintjob I did on our PC's man-o-war. Note the colour scheme is his interperetation of Blackjammers ship - the mess on the tail at the back is SORTA a skull and crossbones, but without an incredibly fine brush I think itd hafta go or stay bodgy. I may look into some of that clear sticker paper for my printer, see if I can do up small decals etc.

I painted these lil three red devils, and used them to great fear of my PC's last session as a trio of pirate wasp ships (during which Blackjammer, Josh's very neutral character, decided what the heck and saved them from my insane ammount of crits). I havent painted the bands on the third one, and nor have I decided what to use for legs "any suggestions?", but so far they work well. Note, of course, that none of them so far are to goo scale - but I'm working on that problem, so if anyone wants a wasp ship that actually looks way smaller than a hammership, dont make me do ya one for a while yet. I used the basic wasp design for my stirge, including the wings, but I did it with a twist - I made four wings for the stirge, and (you'll only understand this if u've seen the wasp card from the WCC) I only used the "front" pair of wings, which are slightly larger than the other.
At the moment, they are all branching from the same place on the Stirge, two at about 20 degrees and the other two at about 45. I'm considering making more for further back, because it makes the stirge look a tad bare (its supposed to be small but really menacing), and I could always do any of this for the wasp, or any other "winged" ship for that matter. I managed to put a curve into my man-o-war's wings with a simple roll of a pencil (they were foam), but so far my wasp & stirge wings are all wooden, so specifics are at request. Again, the effect of these lil red bastards on my pc's was quite devastating (especially because they were "Bee" class, and had two extra medium weapons), mainly due to the bright colours (compared to their dullish man-o-war), and the spread-out effect of the classic triangle tactic used with wasp ships. I havent started on the whole 3d, higher/lower thing yet, but ooo itll be good
