The station was set up by an unsavory race called the Rama T'Alain—the "Cardassians." They lost it in a revolt to the natives of the planet below, a feline humanoid race called the tabaxi—the "Bajorans." The planet is in an state of revolt, and has been for decades, but Treladine Point is an "open" location. The tabaxi technically control the thing, at least from an administrative point of view, but the Rama T'Alain have a very visible presence, and like to rattle their swords a lot. There hasn't been an all out battle on the station for a while, but it could happen at any time. I didn't go so far as to make counterparts for the Bajoran and Federation officers, but I did establish a military hierarchy among the tabaxi clan (or "pride") that run the joint.

The two characters I did copy were Odo (in the form of a doppleganger gone good) and Quark. In Quark's case I didn't even change his name, or his race! That's right, I have ferengi 'jamming around. They are much like the ones from the show, except they don't keep the women locked up naked at home. I could never fathom that point, but anyway.

The Promenade has a variety of shops and offices built into the hollows of the "tree," and for most travellers it's much like a typical space port. Most races have enclaves and communities on the station. The population is close to a thousand.

The tree itself (called a barachania tree) is a distant relative of infinity vine native to the sphere holding the station. In the wild, the trees grow into an enormous ball like shape, with a thick disk of wood bisecting the center -- the "trunk." This serves as the gravity plane for the tree, and creatures often take up residence in the things. It takes close to twenty years to grow one, but they can live for centuries.

Treladine Point was manicured into it's current shape. The wooden disk in the middle has been partially hollowed, allowing for two levels of winding tunnels and cells.

The gravity plane goes right between the two longer levels. The upper level contains the promenade and most of the spelljamming services. The lower level consists of living quarters. The lowermost level contains warehouses and storage, while the upper level contains the administrative offices. As for the rest of the "branches," they form a sphere- shaped canopy around the disk, with several large openings for ships to enter and tie up within the branches. Ships the size of a hammership or larger must tie up outside the canopy, on the disk itself, where some branches have been shaped into piers.

There several heavy branches in the canopy to which one can dock. Two large landing pads at the very top and "bottom" are reserved for those with special landing privileges. When you tie your ship to a branch, some tabaxi will direct you to the nearest ladder or stairwell to lead you down to the disk. Only very small ships, like dragonflies, are allowed to use the eight pads on the disk itself, and these are usually in use by the station militia. They use six modified damselflies to deal with troublemakers.

In an emergency, the station can be moved, but only at an SR of 1, and it can't spelljam.

The elven navy have recently discovered the ship, and are obviously fascinated with it. They have been speaking with the tabaxi about how to grow and maintain one of their own, and have negotiated with various vendors about purchasing or bartering for barachania cones.
