Yssil: Lizardman Male, Merchant S:17 I:11 W:10 D:10 C:14 Ch:9; HP:22; Thaco:18 AL:N
Yssil can be found at almost any point in the Issu sea region, paddling or sailing his long punt with the assistance of his three crewmembers (all lizardmen). He will buy, sell, or trade with anybody - other lizardmen, tabaxi, humans - even Invaders, and is reasonably honest to boot.
Lizail: Lizardman Female, Rebel Warrior Fighter 8 S:17 I:13 W:10 D:12 C:16 Ch:11; HP:44; Thaco:16 AL:N
Lizail is a survivor of two invader assaults on the Suynama Swamp, and is determined to do something about the interlopers. Towards this end, she has begun assembling a elite company of Lizardmen warriors, and is scouring the entire Issuu sea region for additional support. She has attempted to place spies in the ranks of the Invaders, cut deals with the Tabaxi, ect. Recently, she has become aware that the Invaders are not the only ones who possess `sky ships', and may be willing to deal with spelljamming travelers as a result.
Sassril: Lizardman Male, Village Leader Fighter 9 S:18/09 I:12 W:9 D:11 C:14 Ch:10; HP:57; Thaco:12; AL:N
A huge and well muscled member of his race, Sassril is fairly typical of the Lizardman people, paying no attention to the Invaders except when they attack. He has no interest in carrying the struggle to them.
Asyensuu: Lizardman Male, Priest Priest (Druid) 10 S:14 I:14 W:17 D:8 C:12 Ch:11; HP:31; Thaco:14; AL:N
Asyensuu is an older lizardman, more concerned with the politics of nature than the politics of people. He takes the attitude - despite surviving more than one Invader attack - that Suynama (the spirit of the planet) will ultimately either integrate or destroy the Invaders on its own, and needs little or nothing in the way of support from mere mortals.
R'Trell - Tabaxi Male, Merchant Fighter 4 S:14 I:14 W:11 D:13 C:13 Ch:12; HP:22; Thaco:17; AL:CG
R'Trell is a jovial, energetic sort, hailing from the Felis Tabaxi Clan. He sails his catamaran, loaded with various oddities and trinkets, all along the Issuu Sea. R'Trell gets along well enough with lizardmen, finds humans intriguing, and detests the Invaders. He has only a hazy idea where the Invaders are based.
X'Kiir - Tabaxi Male, Freebooter Fighter 9/Thief 12 S:16 I:11 W:11 D:17 C:15 Ch:11; HP:55; Thaco:12 AL:CN
X'Kiir hails from the Zorcai clan of Tabaxi, having left the Tavax Mountain region after a dispute with his Tabaxi Lord (who wishes very much to have a long and painfull conversation with him). X'Kiir is superficially charming, but fundamentally ruthless and amoral, being a bandit, mercenary, and thug for most of his life. He does have two redeeming traits, though: he will not harm children, and will not betray his employer of the moment.
Darleen - Human Female, escaped slave ex Mage 4/Thief 4 S:10 I:15 W:10 D:17 C:12 Ch:14; HP:14; Thaco:19; AL:N(G)
Darleen has only a hazy idea where she is at all - she's not even from this crystal sphere, but was instead brought here as a mistress/slave mage by a low ranking Invader functionary. She escaped only a few months ago, and has been wandering from one hiding hole to the next along the western shore of the Issuu Sea. She finds the lizardmen repulsive (she's afraid they'll eat her) and her opinion of the tabaxi is not much higher (she'd never even heard of them before being brought to this world). Still, she's getting very desperate...
Qi'Chai - Tabaxi Male, Leader Fighter (Samurai) 10 S:15 I:14 W:14 D:16 C:12 C:14; HP:63; Thaco:11; AL:LN(G)
Qi'Chai is blunt of snout, serious in demeanor, and rigid in thought. He is one of several tabaxi samurai charged with keeping order between the various Cattai subclans (which explains much of his personality). He is also charged with investigating oddities (such as visiting non-tabaxi). He regards the Invaders as one more annoyance in a life filled with such.
Ki'Saan - Tabaxi Female, Spy Fighter 5/Thief (Ninja) 7 S:15 I:14 W:12 D:16 C:15 Ch:12; HP:33; Thaco:16; AL:N
Ki'Saan is a member of the `Hidden Claw', a widespread Cattai subclan of Tabaxi ninja with members as far away as Suynama Swamp, the Cleared Lands, and the edge of the Blighted Lands. She, like many other members of the Hidden Claw, is becoming more and more concerned about the Invaders - and more and more frustrated with tabaxi leaders such as Qui-Chai who refuse to see the threat.
T'Dama - Tabaxi Female, Wizard Mage (Alterationist) 12 S:11 I:18 W:14 D:16 C:13 Ch:14; HP:21; Thaco:17; AL:N
T'Dama, a felis tabaxi, was so impressed by the human who taught her magic she changed her name. She is a slightly plump, middle aged tabaxi much more interested in spell research than in getting involved in physical combat. She dislikes the Invaders, but prefers to act behind the scenes. T'Dama is probably one of the most powerfull tabaxi wizards on the planet, as well as one of the most knowledgeable.
T'Sef - Tabaxi Male, Rebel Leader Fighter 7/Mage (Alterationist) 9 S:17 I:17 W:11 D:15 C:14 Ch:13; HP:39; Thaco 14; AL:N
T'Sef is scarred in face, body, and soul. Once a pleasant sort, he now has a hard, cold edge, and lives for but one purpose - to utterly destroy the Invaders, who massacred virtually his entire Felis subclan. During the last attempted Invader assault, he and his small band almost single handedly obliterated a entire Invader company. A raid of his into the Cleared Lands resulted in so many Invader dead some of their imported slaves staged a successfull mass escape. He is feared by local Invader commanders.
Xenon - Human Male, Rebel Wizard ex Ranger 6/Mage (Alterationist) 14 S:14 I:17 W:15 D:17 C:14 Ch:11; HP:43; Thaco:15; AL:N(G)
Now middle aged, Xenon was originally a Ranger near Artemos on Dragonworld who fell into the seductive clutches of a `Faerie Queen' (Saffi). Three years later he returned to Regia with a incomplete memory and the ability to work magic. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Rebellion. Eventually, he wound up here, working under the now deceased mage Stavros, training tabaxi mages. Now the senior human wizard here, Xenon spends much of his time trying to figure out what Stavros was up too - the old wizard had a lot of irons in the fire and didn't talk about any of them. He may try to recruit the PC's to try to track down some of Stavros's projects. Xenon is pleasant, with a fondness for music (which he has no talent or skill at) and hunting (which he's very good at).
Z'Caul - Tabaxi Lord Mage (Conjurer) 7/Priest 7 S:17 I:15 W:15 D:15 C:17 Ch:11; HP:41; Thaco:13; AL:CE
Z'Caul is big, tough, scarred of body, as well as cruel, cunning, greedy, and paranoid of mind - in short, a typical Tabaxi Lord. He has no use for outsiders (including normal tabaxi from neighboring clans) except as slaves or toys - neither lasts long (they get sacrificed to his demonic mentor). He is eternally allying with and scheming against neighboring tabaxi lords. Like all tabaxi lords, he is jealous in the extreme of his magical abilities, but is so eager to add to them he (might) be willing to deal with outsiders.
M'Kavi - Tabaxi Female, Mystic Fighter 10/Druid 12 S:16 I:14 W:18 D:13 C:15 Ch:15; HP:51; Thaco:11; AL:N
A Tavax Tabaxi, M'Kavi is something of a legend, a figure who, though based in the Tavax Mountains, can turn up almost anywhere on the planet. She is known and respected not just by Tabaxi, but by the lizardmen and tasloi as well. She is known for odd prophecies, cryptic utterances, and an aura of mystery - though she is also a respected warleader as well.
Vaar (The Green God) - Green Dragon Very Old (18 HD) Green Dragon Male AC:-5; Thaco:3; Damage:1-8+9/1-8+9/2-20+9; AL:LE(LN) Breath Weapon: 18d6+9 As far as the local tasloi are concerned, Vaar is a god. Vaar was one of the first Green Dragons hatched on this world, and is probably the third or fourth most powerfull of his ilk here. While a formidable opponent, Vaar is a negotiator first, quiet willing to cut a deal. He will even stick by these deals out of a personal sense of honor, most of the time. But he is also greedy, ever anxious to expand his wealth. Lately, he has been thinking about making a major raid on the gem mines of the Scaluu Peaks... and of finding a suitable draconic mate. Natix - Tasloi Male, Chieftan Fighter 5 S:15 I:9 W:9 D:14 C:14 Ch:12; HP:41; Thaco:15; AL:CE Brutal, treacherous, and sneaky, Tasloi chief Natix is one of Vaar's chief servants. Cadel - half elf male, explorer Fighter 8/Mage (Alterationist) 9/Thief 9 S:16 I:16 W:6 D:16 C:11 Ch:11; HP:22; Thaco:13; AL:N(C) Cadel is attactive, in a gaunt, skinny sort of way. He is only partly rational these days, the result of a lifetime spent sneaking and fighting in the shadows. He was recruited by Stavros some thirty odd years ago, but left him after a personal dispute. Since then, he has roamed virtually the entire planet and beyond, popping up in all sorts of odd places - including Dragonworld and Bel. He is almost as much a legend among the Tabaxi as M'kavi.
Arete - Human Female, Senior Priestess Priestess 8* S:10 I:15 W:13 D:10 C:10 Ch:14; HP:27; Thaco:16; AL:LG(LN) Arete is a attractive, well groomed and elegant woman with aristocratic features. Arete views outsiders with suspicion, seeing them as a source for `corrupting influences'. Gilos - Human Male, Informer ex Fighter 4/Thief 6 S:15 I:14 W:9 D:17 C:10 Ch:11; HP:22; Thaco:17; AL:LN(E) Utterly nondescript in appearance and build, Gilos is a former soldier turned secret policeman. While superficially friendly, he is a ruthless agent on behalf of the cities ruling cult. He uses a wide range of disguises. Dion - Human Male, Senior Priest ex Bard 4/Priest 9 S:7 I:14 W:18 D:14 C:8 Ch:16; HP:22; Thaco:16; AL:NG Dion is a pleasant and affable oldster, shunted onto the sidelines and dismissed as a irrelevant relic by the new order of fanatics. Unlike most citizens of Apollo, he is not suspicious and paranoid of outsiders, though his long winded speeches are a bit tedious. It is possible he could turn up on Delphos (as a polite form of exile). Preben - Human Male, Student Bard Bard 5 S:14 I:14 W:14 D:14 C:13 Ch:16; HP:16; Thaco:18; AL:N Preben is a freshfaced kid, arrived in Apollo not quite two years ago to study at the cities still famous bard school. He is now about halfway brainwashed - he is pro-Apollo everything, yet still willing to consider different points of view, and not quite as suspicious and paranoid as the cities other inhabitants. He also has a tendency to stick his nose into other peoples business, which causes him no end of (usually) minor trouble.
Kyros - Half Ogre Male, Thug Fighter 14 S:18/52 I:8 W:8 D:15 C:17 Ch:8; HP:94; Thaco:7; AL:CN Big, ugly, and boisterous, Kyros lives for the moment. When he needs money, he fights in the Arena, signs on as a bodyguard or mercenary for a short stint (never more than a week or two, as he gets bored after that), or simply shakes down some wealthy looking soul on the street (who is usually too terrified to object). When he does have money, he blows it in short order on lavish parties and gala's featuring popular music, scantly clad girls, and lots of wine. From time to time, he has an attack of piety and makes massive donations to some charitable enterprise. He never thinks more than a few hours into the future (why bother?). Plato - Human Male, Weapon Dealer Fighter 4 S:13 I:14 W:14 D:16 C:8 Ch:14; HP:19; Thaco:17; AL:N(E) Severely injured years ago, Plato looks vaguely aristocratic, and knows enough highborn etiquette to appear so if necessary. He is actually a greedy, money grubbing weapon dealer who would (almost) sell his own mother. Cyril - Human Male, Sidelined militant mage Militant Mage (Invoker) 10 S:15 I:15 W:10 D:10 C:16 Ch:11; HP:41; Thaco:11; AL:N Muscular, bald, and with piercing eyes, Cyril is somewhat baffled; after years of loyal service - both to his noble mentor and his secret militant mage circle - he has suddenly found himself persona non grata, the result of a very complex intrigue. With little money left and the Invaders looking hard at him, he's up for almost anything.
Barbara - Human Female, Priestess Ranger (Priestess) 8* S:14 I:13 W:13 D:13 C:14 Ch:12; HP:38; Thaco:13; AL:CG Barbara, like all the rest of Artemos's clergy, was adopted into Artemos's priestly clan. She roves the entire March, keeping an eye on the activities of the `Faerie Queens', whom she refers to as `shameless sluts'. Basili - Human Male, Townsman Bard 4 S:11 I:14 W:8 D:13 C:11 Ch:15; HP:11; Thaco:19; AL:CN Goodlooking Basili is in serious trouble; he defied the whim of one of Artemos's ruling matrons (almost unthinkable to the men here). Currently he is in hiding. Desperate, he plans to flee into the March, and perhaps seek sanctuary with one of the Faerie Queens. Or at least run somewhere...
Candis - Human Female, Priestess of Athena Fighter (Priest) 7* S:12 I:14 W:14 D:11 C:16 Ch:15; HP:30; Thaco:14; AL:LG Stern of feature and hard of face, Candis is fed up with the Invaders and their puppet leaders, and is systematically sounding out other leaders, factions, ect, in an effort to depose them. Vasilis - Human Male, Spy Thief 9 S:13 I:15 W:11 D:17 C:14 Ch:14; HP:26; Thaco:16; AL:CN (E) Slender, black haired, and charming, Vasilis long since sold out to the Invaders, acting as their chief spy within Athenos. He is trying to gather more information on Candis's activities before reporting to the Invaders.
Solon the Seer: Human Male, Mage in Hiding Mage (Diviner) 14 S:11 I:17 W:16 D:12 C:11 Ch:13; HP:19; Thaco:16; AL:N(G) As far as most people here are concerned, Solon is merely a petty fortune teller whose market stall is only erratically open. To a handfull of others, though, he is the Master Diviner, in charge of the White Eye Circle of mages. Kama: Human Female, Fixture Bard 3 S:9 I:14 W:9 D:17 C:12 Ch:17; HP:9; Thaco:19; AL:N This 14 year old near street urchin seems to know many locals, and is a good source of information. She is a pickpocket and petty bard in the market.
Adar the Mad: Human? Male - Scholar? and Prophet? Ex Priest 3/Bard 8 S:7 I:15 W:15 D:17 C:8 Ch:17; HP:18; Thaco:17; AL:CN This white haired and white bearded man wanders about the ruins of Cronus, wrapped in a dark robe clenching a huge book while muttering to himself constantly. He is attended by a bizzare procession of goblins, minotaurs, humans, and others. Some follow him because they are charmed by the old mans spells; others because they belive in his cause (or simply because they like the crazy old coot. Adar's origins are uncertain; judging from his ramblings he may have came here from another plane via one of the Gates beneath the city. He has the habit of approaching new arrivals and attempting to recruit them for odd missions. He also drops bits of unusual lore (that often have no bearing whatsoever to the topic at hand). He claims to know the future, speaking of `the grand plan of the gods', and at least some of his prophecies seem to `hit the mark', as it were. Most of the cities other inhabitants avoid him. Vr'ana - Drow Female, agent of evil Priestess 7/Thief 7 S:9 I:15 W:14 D:17 C:11 Ch:15; HP:22; Thaco:16; AL:NE Slender, albino Vr'ana is utterly devoted to the Philosophy of Evil (which she thinks of as the `Path of Power'). She became a priestess of this philosophy after being banished from the realms below. Vr'ana is a organizing force among the monsters here; her spies and agents are everywhere. Ultimately she aspires to create a grand temple of evil, which would hold direct sway over much of the surface, and cause chaos throughout much of the rest.
`Solon' (Orestes) - Human Male, `Retired' Hero ex Priest 5/Ranger 16 S:18/77 I:14 W:15 D:17 C:18 Ch:18; HP:101; Thaco:5; AL:CN Though he has a bit of a paunch and there is more than a little grey in his hair, barrel chested `Solon' still cuts an impressive figure - well muscled, bronzed skin, short curly hair. `Solon' - known to his neighbors as a ex soldier, priest of insignifigant rank and a minor wine grower - was once the mighty hero Orestes, a slayer of monsters who impressed (alarmed) even the Invaders. The bastard grandson of Zeus, Orestes spent his early years as a scorned lackey in one of his fathers temples before meeting and becoming entangled in the plots of the avatars of Artemis, Athena, Apollo and Hermes; his success (suvival) at the games of the gods spreading his fame far and wide over a nine year period. Common knowledge has him being killed in a glorious battle a decade ago; only a very few suspecting otherwise. He does, however, walk with a slight limp and has a collection of nasty scars down his side and back as a result of that battle. Portain - Centaur Male, Centaur Agent and fixture Ranger 5/Priest (Shaman) 6 S:17 I:13 W:15 D:14 C:14 Ch:13; HP:33; Thaco:15; AL:CG(N) Fat, unkempt, foul mouthed, and often found clenching a wine bottle, Portain the centaur is regarded by the local humans as a nusiance - it seems he's always straying onto somebody elses property or at least partially responsible for a drunken brawl of some sort. However, its all an act - Portain is actually keeping an eye on the areas humans. Among the centaurs proper, he is well regarded, acting as a sort of `roving priest'. Melanie - Human Female, youthfull wouldbe adventuress Illusionist 3/Thief 4 S:9 I:15 W:8 D:17 C:10 Ch:13; HP:9; Thaco:19; AL:N(CN) Blond haired, blue eyed, fifteen year old Melanie finds Dionysus to be hopelessly boring. Elsewhere you have invaders and hero's and dragons and great deeds in the making, but nothing like that happens around here, or so it seems to her. Melanie runs all over the area, sneaking onto the various estates. Her uncle (both parents are died in a accident a few years ago) despairs of her - hanging around with that no good wandering illusionist was bad enough, but now the lass seems to be turning into an out and out criminal. He's trying to find a husband for her. Knowing this, Melanie is planning on leaving the area. She is almost the only local who knows who `Solon' really is.
Nikolos - Human Male, Sage Mage (Diviner) 4 S:8 I:14 W:16 D:12 C:9 Ch:13; HP:8; Thaco:19; AL:CN Dignified, white haired, slightly plump, well dressed. While often recommended and claiming to know much, Nikolos is actually a know-nothing pompous windbag. Kai `The Beggar Sage': Human Male, Sage ex Mage (Diviner) 4/Thief 5 S:9 I:15 W:16 D:17 C:11 Ch:12; HP:13; Thaco:18; AL:N Kai was once a prominent sage until he fell afoul of the Invaders and wound up a beggar in the streets. He now offers his knowledge - at rock bottom rates - to the poor people of the lower city, while helping to organize resistance to the Invaders. He knows where (nearly) all of the bodies are buried. Filia: Human Female, Sage Mage (Diviner) 9 S:13 I:16 W:16 D:10 C:10 Ch:14; HP:17; Thaco:18; AL:NG Filia is the defacto leader of the Academy these days. Filia has a powerfull patron, but she is closely watched by the Invaders, a situation that bothers her greatly. So she strives to be as neutral and as non threatening to them as she can, while looking for a way out.
Avel: Human Male, Puppet `Emperor' ex Fighter 5/Bard 6 S:17 I:12 W:11 D:17 C:11 Ch:17; HP:26; Thaco:16; AL:N (C) A once muscular man now running to fat, Avel, never a strong intellect in the first place, is now mostly absorbed in debauchery (only a through a strong natural talent was he able to become a Bard). He is the 12th puppet Emperor the Invaders have put on the throne, and obediently rubber stamps the decrees they put before him, reads the speeches they write, ect. However, he does have a (slight) rebelious streak: every now and again some decree placed before him will get `accidently' destroyed or miscopied, and once in a while he is too `indisposed' (drunk, as far as his Invader handlers are concerned) to make a given speech, or he will sometimes botch or slightly alter a speech out of `forgetfullness' (spite). A few times, he has actually demanded the death/punishment of certain very minor Invader functionaries (the Invader overlords always go along with this to maintain internal discipline). He has also been known (rarely) to `lose' the odd rebel prisoner, or even ignore the occasional rebel spy. But these are all vague acts of the moment, not a genuine desire to rebel against the Invaders. The Invaders fully understand this, which is why they let him live. Cleon - Male Human, Chief Bureaucrat Fighter 3 S:11 I:16 W:13 D:12 C:16 Ch:14; HP:13; Thaco:18; AL:LN An old man who looks more like a harried clerk than a noble, Cleon is stuck with most of the actual work of running the empire, answering both to Emperor Avel and to the Invader overlords. Cleon spends sixteen hours a day at his desk, six and a half days a week, trying to keep the wheels turning. He cares little for Avel, seeing him as lazy and the Invaders as brutal thugs - but also see's the rebels as misguided idealists. The only way out, as he see's it is to civilize the Invaders over time. The Invaders, for their part, see Cleon as a valuable local agent. General Draco - Male Human, Noble Fighter 13 S:18/03 I:13 W:8 D:11 C:16 Ch:14; HP:88; Thaco:8; AL:LE Officially, the thick limbed, bull necked and shaven headed General Draco is merely a minor imperial commander, charged with overseeing the elite corps of bodyguards (4th - 7th level fighters). In actuality, he is the Invaders local `point man', using his troops in situations the Invaders do not care to directly involve themselves in. Draco has a intense lust for battle, and frequently goes out into the field himself. He actually likes the Invaders! Milos - Human Male, High Priest of Zeus (Jove) ex Fighter 5/Priest 11 S:16 I:14 W:17 D:10 C:11 Ch:14; HP:39; Thaco:15; AL:N Milos would be good looking, except for a great scar that splits his eyebrow, lip, and part of his neck, aquired during his youth as a temple warrior. A old associate of Orestes (whom he honestly thinks long dead), Milos married into the priesthood proper (a scandal), and attained his current position because the Invaders thought that having him in the post would help nullify Zeus's occasionally troublesome clergy. However, while superficially obeying the Invaders decrees, he has systematically and quietly been completely reorganizing the temple, unearthing long forgotten secrets, imposing discipline, making alliances - in short turning it into a major power. Iris - Human Female, High Priestess of Hera ex Mage (Diviner) 6/Priestess 12* S:8 I:15 W:16 D:14 C:12 Ch:18; HP:23; Thaco:14; AL:CG (CN) A stunningly beautifull, yet vain schemer, Iris is a major factor in imperial politics, with spies everywhere (if the Invaders had any idea how much she knew about them, they'd panic, then kill her regardless of the consequences). However, she uses her influence and knowledge mostly to benefit herself alone - if others are helped along the way, thats just a bonus. Plans of hers that do seem to benefit others almost always have some hidden purpose. She detests Milos, seeing him as a interloper, and deals with him only when she must. Culter `The Knife': Human? Male?, Assassin ex Mage (Illusionist?) 5?/Thief 14? S:14 I:17 W:11 D:18 C:14 Ch:12; HP:41; Thaco:14; AL:NE Culter is little more than a name, a name whispered when people die unexpectedly. Culter appears to have no personal political leanings at all, working for anybody who pays enough. Meletos - Human Male, Palace Servant Thief 3 S:12 I:14 W:13 D:14 C:11 Ch:14; HP:10; Thaco:19; AL:LN Prim, proper middle aged Meletos looks and acts every inch the stereotypical butler - when on duty. However, owing to several expensive personal habits (gambling, women, exotic drugs) he is very bribable, willing to commit all sorts of improper actions of a minor sort (letting unathorized people in or out of the palace, for example) if paid enough. He will not do anything that directly endangers himself. Because he steals small curio's from the palaces more distant regions, he knows where every last nook and cranny is in the building. Tiphane - Female Human, Courtier and Hedge Wizard Ex Thief 3/Mage (Illusionist) 7 S:8 I:17 W:11 D:15 C:9 Ch:14; HP:14; Thaco 19; AL:N Looking very much like a gypsy, thin dark haired Tiphane dresses in multicolored clothing to create (with mixed results) an aura of mystery. Hailing originally from the streets, Tiphane is now on the extreme outer edge of court society; sometimes found within the palace (where the other courtiers consult her for everything from disguises to cursing foes to entertainment) or at her shop (when out of favor) in the cities mage district where she performs much the same services for the cities merchants. Brasidas - Human Male, Bureaucrat Fighter 2 S:11 I:14 W:9 D:11 C:10 Ch:14; HP:11; Thaco 19; AL:N(NE) Short, fat, dark complected, with greasy black hair, Brasidas is in charge of collecting taxes for the city, a post for which he was chosen by the Invaders. Like most of their local puppets, Brasidas is corrupt and widely despised, with an assortment of semi-secret bad habits (featuring ladies of the night, gambling, and drugs). He never goes anywhere without his bodyguards (5th level fighters).
Korudon - Male Human Merchant ex Fighter 3/Thief 4 S:11 I:17 W:14 D:11 C:12 Ch:15; HP:16; Thaco:18; AL:N Swarthy of skin and oily of manner, Korudon is typical of Plutos's more successfull money grubbing denizens. He puts profit first, going so far as to try to rent cargo space on the Invaders spelljammers, expanding his business out of the sphere. He also does not hesitate to use slander, assassination, ect to put down rivals. Thorin - Male Dwarf Merchant Fighter 7/Thief 8 S:14 I:14 W:12 D:14 C:16 Ch:13; HP:30; Thaco:14; AL:N Short and unimpressive of build, grey haired Thorin is nonetheless a major power in Plutos, being the official representative of the dwarves and gnomes of Vulcan in Plutos. Once a common sight on the caravan roads, he now has people come to him at his large palace. He is constantly sending out agents, explorers, adventurers, ect to check out this or that rumor. Gilos - Up and coming Male Human Merchant Thief 5 S:11 I:14 W:11 D:17 C:12 Ch:15; HP:18; Thaco:18; AL:N Tall, dapper, well dressed, and energetic, Gilos is a born deal maker and merchant - even if he often doesn't exactly hold clear title to his merchandise. He - and hundreds others like him - aspire to join the ranks of Plutos's Merchant Lords. Nicias - Priest of Hades Priest 9 S:11 I:14 W:16 D:11 C:11 Ch:11 HP:21; Thaco:16; AL:LE(LN) With his corpse white skin, Nicias looks much like the bodies he entombs and conducts funerals for. He will cast any necromatic spell he knows - for the right price. His dank cavern home features a most impressive vault for the wealth he has accumulated. He is thinking of hiring adventures to investigate `problems' in the lower catacombs. `Bone Lady' - Undead Human Female, Mistress of the Catacombs Mage (Lich) 18 S:17 I:18 W:16 D:7 C:4 Ch:5; HP:39; Thaco:9; AL:NE(N) Centuries ago, the `Bone Lady' was a necromancer and key advisor to a series of the high priests of Hades. Evenutally, she sought immortality via lichdom, and assumed a shadowy existence in the catacombs, seeing herself as their true ruler. Recently `Hades Book' (which she authored) was stolen from her for the third time - and she wants it back! (Hence the `troubles' bothering Nicaes.)
Kyros - Human Male, sailor and dockside tough ex Thief 3/Fighter 5 S:17 I:9 W:11 D:15 C:16 Ch:10; HP:40; Thaco 16; AL:LE(LN) Brutal and badly scarred, Kyros is often recruited as a bosun by the various sea captains based here. He is a bully, noted for excessive punishments and for involvment in many a tavern brawl. Jacinthe - Human Female, Merchant ex Ranger 3/Thief 5 S:14 I:14 W:15 D:16 C:14 Ch:14; HP:19; Thaco:18; AL:NG (N) A thin pale middle aged woman with long straight black hair, Jacinthe was a notable equestrian in her youth who (as part of a family pact) was married to a wealthy Posiedos shipowner. She assumed control of the business some five years ago, following her husbands (presumed) death at sea. Her control is disputed by her nephew and inlaws, who think it outrageous that a mere woman should control such an enterprise. Matters have not quite reached the fighting in the streets stage yet, but its getting there. Hesperos - Human Male, Priest and Invader Puppet Thief* (Priest) 10 S:15 I:15 W:9 D:15 C:14 Ch:14; HP:31; Thaco 16; AL:NE Well muscled, black haired, and dressed in ill fitting clothes of the finest fabrics, Hesperos conveys the impression of a common sailor on a spree; sometimes generous, sometimes quarrelsome, and sometimes showing blatent favortism. Actually, he is a ruthless schemer who intrigued and murdered his way up from petty smuggling and piracy to his current rank, becoming a lackey of the Invaders along the way. He runs the city on a day to day basis, but is often found making the rounds of the dockside taverns with a pack of cronies. His only magical abilities are Water Breathing and Control Winds. Atemas - Human Male, Merchant and Sea Captain ex Thief 3/Fighter 7 S:17 I:13 W:14 D:15 C:11 Ch:14; HP:40; Thaco:14; AL:LN(G) Broad shouldered, light haired, fine dressed, and course spoken, Atemas is typical of the merchant captains of Posiedos, working his way up from cabin boy and dockside thief to respected sea captain and merchant. He has a reputation for being reliable, is reasonably well liked by his crews. He is not adverse to a bit of exploration on the side. Philomena - Human Female, Rebel Agent Ex Mage (Illusionist) 4/Thief 9 S:11 I:16 W:11 D:18 C:13 Ch:11; HP:21; Thaco 16; AL:N Philomena's appearance varies widely; sometimes she poses as a shapely courtesan, othertimes as a deformed beggar woman, pedlar, or fisherman. Her principle task is keeping track of the coming and going of the various Invader spelljammers here, but she also commits acts of sabotage and theft when the opportunity presents.
Adonia - Female Human, Bard Bard 17 S:12 I:15 W:13 D:18 C:16 Ch:18; HP:40; Thaco:12; AL:NG A bard of great reknown, Adonia is a major figure in Venusi - she seems to be on a first name basis with everybody, including the Invaders. At various times, she has been a travelling entertainer, the emperors consort, mistress of two different bardic schools, a guest of the elves of Sinaliel, Queen of a small kingdom in the Islands, and madam of a brothel. Her connections literally span the planet.
`Philip' - Human Male, Mage in Hiding ex Fighter 5/Mage (Conjurer) 9 S:15 I:17 W:9 D:11 C:17 Ch:10; HP:50; Thaco:16; AL:N To those who think they know him, `Philip' is nothing more than another artisan (finesmith) in a city filled with such. Some vaguely recollect him leaving the city a dozen years ago, but the Philip who came back is not the Philip they remember. This Philip is a look-alike cousin of the first, a survivor of the all but wiped out `Nine Name' conjurer circle who assumed Philips identity after the first Philip got himself killed. Considering that he was wanted by the Invaders for murder and high treason, it seemed the reasonable thing to do. He has spent almost three years here now, passing himself off as a common artisan, working his magic only in secret, always looking over his shoulder. `Mother Demeter' - Human Female, fixture ex Priestess 5*/Bard 6 S:12 I:14 W:14 D:17 C:14 Ch:17; HP:20; Thaco:18; AL:NG This middle aged and plump faced woman, always humming a tune, is everybodies favorate gossip, popular with the kids, and is known for helping the down and out. Most people here do not know she really was a priestess once, of Hera, before being dismissed for politcal reasons. `Master Widget' - Gnome Male, Clockmaker Mage (Illusionist) 6/Thief 7 S:11 I:15 W:11 D:16 C:14 Ch:11; HP:16; Thaco:17; AL:N(G) An excellent clockmaker (and lockmaker, and trapmaker, ect), `Master Widget' is the representative of Vulcans gnomish community - but he has little real authority, hence what he says and what actually happens are often two different things. Like the other gnomes and dwarves of Vulcan he is more concerned about events below than he is about the Invaders (he half fears a massive Duagar invasion of the surface). He is one of the very few gnomes here who not only knows about the underdark teleport gate to Bel, but has actually used it. Vorse - Duagar Male, Spy and Sabateur Priest 7/Thief 7 S:14 I:14 W:15 D:15 C:14 Ch:13; HP 29; Thaco 16; AL:LE Vorse is on the tall and thin side for a dwarf; enough so that he can pass as a short, elderly human with little difficulty. A priest of the philosophy of Evil, Vorse is attempting to foment chaos in Vulcan as preparation for a major Duagar invasion. Towards this end, he uses hired agents to try to stir up bad blood between the cities various factions, causing riots, labor disputes, ect. His underlings include a tiny thieves guild (whose members think Vorse is a human merchant) and a handfull of Duagar.
`Saffi' - Elven Female, Faerie Queen Ranger 8/Mage 14 S:13 I:17 W:14 D:14 C:14 Ch:18; HP:40; Thaco:13; AL:CN (G) Saffi, like all the Faerie Queens, is a creature of chaos, now doing this, now doing that, but always keeping the interests of Sinaliel in mind (somewhere). She has a penchant for collecting good looking human woodsmen as her consorts, and usually has several (charmed) men of this type about (Rangers of 3rd - 9th level). Her servants include a tribe of about 300 unruly goblins and a dozen odd minotaurs. `Elli' - Elven Female, Faerie Queen Mage 12/Thief 14 S:9 I:18 W:14 D:18 C:11 Ch:15; HP:28; Thaco:14; AL:N Small and seemingly as delicate as a spun glass figurine, `Elli' prides herself on her manners and good taste. Her consorts are mostly academic sorts; sages, bards, and minor wizards (many of whom sought her out to learn her magical secrets - she deliberately inflated her reputation as a wizard to attract such). But there is another side to Elli, that of the cold and calculating spymistress, at the center of a vast web of agents that reaches to Jovus-Hera and across the sea to Dragonhome. Her servants include a large tribe (600+) of Kobolds (many of them thieves of up to 4th level), plus a cadre of (mostly male) elven and half elven mage/thieves and fighter/mage/thieves, some nearly as advanced in level as she is. `Kami' - Elven Female, Faerie Queen Fighter 9/Mage 10/Thief 3 S:16 I:16 W:10 D:13 C:15 Ch:15; HP:38; Thaco:12; AL:CG(CN) Sometimes called the `Lady Warrior', Kami was once attached to the Sinaliel embassy in Jovus-Hera. She prefers warrior types for her consorts, with whom she often engages in vigerous mock duels. She has been sought out by a long string of warriors hoping to defeat her. She sometimes accepts their challenges, though she often cheats, using spells (Haste, Slow, ect) and thieves tricks against her challengers. Her servants include a dozen pixies, several gargoyles, and more than two hundred elven warriors. Malandriel - Elven Male, Lord Ranger 13 S:15 I:15 W:15 D:17 C:14 Ch:14; HP:81; Thaco:8; AL:CG Down through the centuries, Malandriel has roamed widely, going as far east as Jovus-Hera and sailing across the ocean to Dragonhome. These days, he oversee's the elven scouts, couriers, merchants, and the like that wish to visit or trade with Regia. His post is about as far into Sinaliel as most humans ever get. He bears the odd orders of the Faerie Queens without complaint - at least publicly. `Tidor' - Half Elf Male, Agent Fighter 10/Mage 11/Thief 12 S:17 I:17 W:11 D:17 C:13 Ch:12; HP:47; Thaco:11; AL:N(C) `Tidor', a son of the Faire Queen `Saffi', is a utterly nondescript sort who has spent half a century as a elven infiltrator, keeping an eye on Regia, Dragonhome, and the Invaders. But, he really doesn't fit in... and he's been thinking more and more lately about striking out on his own... `Ariane' - Elven Female, Future `Faerie Queen'? Ranger 7/Bard 14 S:13 I:16 W:14 D:17 C:14 Ch:17; HP:38; Thaco:14; AL:CG(CN) `Ariane' is a name being mentioned more and more often over the past dozen years; many (human and elven alike) have her marked as a potential future `Faerie Queen'. Little is known of her past, though she does seem to have known Adonia of Venusi back in Sinaliel proper. Currently she roves back and forth through the March (and into Regia proper when the mood strikes her), leaving behind a long trail of heartbroken human lovers. Small groups of centaurs and satyrs are often with her. One constant companion of hers is `Jara', a powerfull (12th level) female elven cleric, apparently acting as a tutor or mentor of some sort. Many regard `Jara's' presence as a certain sign Elli will soon become a `Faerie Queen'.
`Fulmen' - Juvenile Blue Dragon Male AC:0; HP:100; Thaco:8; Damage:1-8+4/1-8+4/3-24+4; AL:LE Breath Weapon: 8d8+8* Fulvus is a young bully of a Blue Dragon, particularly proud of himself for figuring out how to get a bit of extra `kick' from his breath weapon. He is also somewhat unhappy: being one of the younger dragons he is stuck with a task he hates - overseeing this human packed pesthole. To make matters worse, there are troubles brewing in the mines, and young though he is, he can't fit down the shafts to investigate personally - which probably means hiring adventurers. Vasilis - Human Male, Chief Enforcer (Judge) Fighter (Priest) 9* S:17 I:14 W:14 D:16 C:16 Ch:14; HP:51; Thaco:12; AL:LE The cult of Cronus is long gone from Regia, but it still lingers here, and while Cronus cannot grant spells he can grant his priests other abilities. Vasilis is one such priest, able to use `Charm Person' and `Detect Lie' once each per day. As Chief Enforcer he roams the streets with the other Enforcers, overseeing the harsh laws here. In some instances, he can exercise summary judgement. He is greatly respected and feared here.
`Sapiens' - Venerable Brass Dragon Male AC:-6; HP:83; Thaco:3; Damage:1-6+10/1-6+10/4-16+10; AL:CG Breath Weapon: 20d4+10 Sapiens spends much of his time laying directly above one of the cities gates bored though the surrounding rocky ring. He has two occupations - sleeping and talking - specifically talking about philosophy, which he will debate, at length with any creature whatsoever. Locals - including the Invaders posted here - know better than to get him started - in the past his conversations have lasted for days! Iona - Human Female, Merchant ex Fighter 4/Bard 6 S:15 I:14 W:11 D:17 C:14 Ch:17; HP:31; Thaco:17; AL:N(L) Olive skinned and dark haired, Iona spent much of her early life on long and dangerous caravan routes with her trader family before being married to one of the local lordlings here. Since then, she has developed her musical ability into true bardhood, and set about developing a network of agents, contacts, and suppliers that spans the continent. Very little business happens in this town that she does not know about. Cosimo - Human Male, Mage in Hiding Mage (Conjurer) 16 S:10 I:17 W:14 D:11 C:17 Ch:11; HP:30; Thaco:15; AL:N To all but a handfull of others in Orichalcum, Cosimo is naught but an elderly alchemist, trader in odd animals, and third rate wizard who moved here after the death of his family some eight years ago. In actuality, he was master of the `Callers' conjurer circle until that group was broken by the Invaders even though the circle never acted against them. He wants to be left alone. But others are looking high and low for him - some to recruit, some to kill...
Harena - Juvenile Brown Dragon Female AC:2; HP:110; Thaco:7; Damage:1-4+4/1-4+4/3-30+30; AL:NE(N) Breath Weapon: 8d6+8 Harena cares little for Fulvus and less for humans. She is in town because she wants to attact a mate, and the way to attact a mate is to have a large hoard. Hence, she sits in town, collecting a crushing `tax' from all who enter. Clava `The Club' - Half Ogre Male, Bandit Leader Fighter 11 S:18/91 I:10 W:7 D:11 C:16 Ch:8; HP:90; Thaco:10; AL:CE This feuding brute more or less runs Fulvus - when he's around (the Brown Dragon Overlords care only about wealth, not petty matters of administration). Much of the time, he's out in the desert, raiding caravans, villages, ect. Hector - Human Male, Renegade Necromancer Mage (Necromancer) 17 S:14 I:18 W:16 D:11 C:14 Ch:2; HP:13; Thaco:15; AL:CE Hector is hidiously disfigured by a magical disease similiar to the rotting disease of mummies, which is slowly dissolving his flesh (hence his low charisma and hit points). The only way out, as he see's it, is lichdom - but its a race to see if he can gain sufficient experience and knowledge for that step before the disease kills him (at its current pace, the disease will kill him within six months). Desperation, brought on by ever approaching doom, is making him use his powers openly - even the dragons are scared of him, though they'll never admit it. Besides (horrid) research, he is hunting - mostly via agents - for Hades Book. Hector is wanted - dead - by both the Invaders and Rebels; this miserable bandit town is quiet literally the last place left for him to hide.
Nodus - Juvenile Copper Dragon Male AC:-1; HP:65; Thaco:9; Damage:1-6+4/1-6+4/5-20+4; AL:CG (CN) Breath Weapon: 8d6+4 Nodus is a pushy young copper dragon determined to riddle his way to a position of power within his clan. Towards this end, he lurks around the cities gates, demanding riddles of travelers. Syble - Gynosphinx and Oracle AC:-1; HP:37; Thaco:13; AL:N Syble is considered by some to be one of the greatest living prophets on Dragonworld, and by others to be one of its most audacious frauds. Everybody - Dragons, Invaders, and Rebels alike - pays attention to her utterances, even if most of them are highly cryptic. Real thing or not?... Theodore - Human Male, Convict Thief 10 S:11 I:17 W:8 D:17 C:12 Ch:11; HP:28; Thaco:16; AL:N(C) There is no question of Theodores guilt: the nondescript young man was caught in the act of commiting a most impressive robbery, and his trial was fair and impartial. Normally, he'd be looking at a very severe sentence, possibly including his (quick) execution. But he is a very good riddler, and the Riddling Fair is due, and if he wins... he's free.
Anhelare' - Venerable Green Dragon Female AC:-5; Thaco:3; Damage:1-8+9/1-8+9/2-20+9; AL:LE Breath Weapon: 18d6+9 Anhelare' is the ruler of one of the larger factions of the Green Dragon clan that lairs beneath Viridus. She is currently ordering her underlings to prepare for for an assault against the Tabaxi tribes in the southern forest (among others). Pausanis - Human Male, Faction Leader ex Thief 3/Fighter 9 S:17 I:12 W:10 D:15 C:14 Ch:14; HP:45; Thaco:12; AL:LE (LN) This scarred, beefy man fought his way up from the slums to attain his current rank, and brutally tries to squash those who would take it away from him. He does try to `help' slum kids - by putting them in the military. He makes himself usefull to his draconic patron (Anhelare') by his complete obedience. Rhoda - Human Female, Free Agent ex Thief 4/Mage (Illusionist) 6 S:11 I:17 W:9 D:17 C:11 Ch:15; HP:14; Thaco:19; AL:CN(E) The alliances of sleek and sinuous Rhoda shift with the wind, now working for this faction, now for that one. She is determined - sometimes - to be a faction leader in her own right someday. Currently she is working against Pausanis.
DRAGONWORLD - CALIGO Balasi - Human Male, Mariner and Merchant Fighter 7 S:15 I:15 W:13 D:13 C:13 Ch:14; HP:41; Thaco:14; AL:LG (NG) A older black skinned human `barbarian', congenial Balasi is one of Caligo's more prominent citizens, the one people turn to when they need a level head. He is gone much of the time, on trading expeditions to the Islands - he knows more of the islands than almost anybody else. ----------------------- R'Lixi - Tabaxi Male, Former Explorer Ranger 8/Mage (Alterationist) 10 S:17 I:17 W:14 D:15 C:15 Ch:14; HP:46; Thaco:13; AL:CG (CN) R'Lixi can be described as daring but foolish; he and a few foolhardy clanmates came to Dragonworld via a Teleport spell mere days after he aquired it from a human wizard on Suynama. Since then, he has bounced around much of Dragonworld, finally settling here (more or less) and opening a hedge wizard shop. The locals find him charming but sometimes confusing. ------------------------ `Queen' Ballia - Human Female ex Mage (Illusionist) 3/Thief 5 S:11 I:15 W:9 D:17 C:14 Ch:11; HP:9; Thaco:18; AL:CN Ballia is an obnoxious beggar woman, minor entertainer, gossip, and petty thief who roams the docks of Caligo. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of all the ships that come here, and their crews. On any excuse whatsoever, she will launch into her tale as to how she is the unlawfully deposed Queen of a kingdom in the Islands (greatly distorted, but with a core of truth). ------------------------ DRAGONWORLD - RUBER Thanos - Human Male, Power Broker Thief 14 S:14 I:14 W:14 D:16 C:12 Ch:13; HP:50; Thaco:14; AL:NE A bit thick in the middle, but otherwise unremarkable, Thanos has seen many faction lords of Ruber come and go - and he helped most of them come and go. He is an expert at intrigue, at knives in the dark, of dodging blame. True, the faction lords wield more power than he does - but they also don't last very long. He keeps track of everything that happens in Ruber. Fighter 7 S:18/07 I:9 W:7 D:11 C:15 Ch:8; HP:50; Thaco:14; AL:CE Etor loves bashing heads and breaking limbs. He gets to bash a lot of heads and break a lot of limbs as a Enforcer Captain, but finds the petty rules he must follow irritating. In short, the typical pin headed muscle bound goon found in cities like this. But... Etor is getting bored here. He's thinking of rounding up a few of his mates, and heading out into the wastes, turning bandit, where he doesn't have to worry about petty rules... ---------------------------- DRAGONWORLD - METALLIX LEAGUE Margarita - Gold Dragon Female, Leader of Metallix League AC:-11; HP:138; Thaco:1; Damage:1-10+11/1-10+11/6-36+11; AL:LG; Breath Weapon:22d12+11 Margarita sometimes passes herself off as a minor aristocratic sorceress named Gem. Her most common human form, though, is that of an elderly woman radiating immense authority. Margarita is the guiding force behind the current draconic policy of tolorating the Invaders; a century and a half ago she saw what happened to her mate of almost a thousand years when he accepted their challenge, so she knows their power. She works at changing the Invaders attitudes, civilizing them. At worst, she figures their empire will collapse in another century or two. In the meantime, though she acts only in small ways. ------------------- Iactare - Male Bronze Dragon AC:-4; HP:101; Thaco:5; Damage:1-8+6/1-8+6/4-24+6; AL:LG(NG) Breath Weapon: 12d8+6 Iactare wants the Invaders gone - now. He was barely a hatchling when they took over, and despite the admonitions of his elders, has no real idea of just how terrible they can be. Currently, he is collecting like minded dragons and members of other races, and establishing a carefully laid out organization to depose the Invaders. In his human form, he is a frequently absent merchant and sea captain named Jason. Vanion - Male Steel Dragon AC:-6; HP:111; Thaco:3; Damage:1-10+10/1-10+10/3-30+10; AL:LN; Breath Weapon: save at -2 or die Vanion spends most of his time in human form, passing himself off as everything from a common laborer to a minor aristocrat. As a senior member of Clan Ferrum, he knows a great deal about the Invaders, far more than was the case when they first took over. Sometimes, he thinks he knows enough to help with organizing a successfull revolt - but only sometimes. To his way of thinking, its the piece of information you don't have that will kill you - just look at that idiotic challenge the Dragon Lords agreed to 150 years ago! So he sends out agents and adventurers and waits and thinks... --------------------------- Altair - Human Male, Archimage Wizard (Diviner) 19 S:9 I:18 W:17 D:9 C:9 Ch:14; HP:33; Thaco 14; AL:LG Altair, master of the `Crystal Eye' mage circle, is among the most powerfull human wizards on the planet and one of Margarita's closest advisors - her protection is the only reason the Invaders havn't had him arrested and killed decades ago (though they do send assassins after him with depressing regularity). Altair wants the Invaders to go away, and since he is already well into his second century and doubts if he'll be around for a third, he wants them gone now, while he's still alive. This is the single biggest point of dispute between him and Margarita. He can't act on his own - every move he makes, everything he does, is watched and noted by Invader spies - and by Margarita. So, he tries to quietly help others do what he cannot... ----------------------------- Echo - Human Female, priestess of the Philosophy of Good Priestess 11 S:11 I:14 W:17 D:13 C:13 Ch:16; HP:31; Thaco:14; AL:NG Worship of the gods has been in a state of slow and steady decline since the arrival of the Invaders: many people feel that the gods let them down. More and more have been drawn to the previousely ignored Philosophy of Good, where the clergy draw their spell casting energies not from the gods, but from good deeds. Priests of this philosophy try - with little success - to convert the invaders, or passively oppose them. Echo is one of several powerfull priests in the movement. ---------------------------- Erasmus - Human Male, Champion of Good Paladin 10 S:17 I:13 W:15 D:15 C:15 Ch:18; HP:88; Thaco:11; AL:LG Until the development of the Philosophy of Good, Paladins were unknown on this world; Erasmus is still one of a bare handfull. He is convinced that an epic showdown with the Invaders is coming soon, and plans to be ready. ------------------------ DRAGONWORLD - SOUTHREACH: Gauk of Aix - Human Male, `Viking' Leader (Jarl) Fighter 9 S:18/21 I:13 W:9 D:9 C:15 Ch:14; HP:60; Thaco:12; AL:N Barrel chested with a red beard and hair, big boasting Gauk is typical of the eternally squabbling petty lords of Southreach. He is a veteran of three raids on Dragonhome and Panthea, and is thinking of pulling out of Southreach and settling in Umbra (Dragonhome). -------------------------- Eyolf of Jarrow - Human Male, `Viking' Merchant ex Fighter 5/Thief 9 S:15 I:15 W:11 D:17 C:13 Ch:13; HP:35; Thaco:16; AL:N Eyolf is charming enough to stay on the good side of most of Southreachs petty lords, and ruthless enough to take - by force, at times - certain of his trade goods. He is one of the few locals to have regular dealings with the `norse' dwarves and elves. --------------------------- Toki Trollborn - Half Elf Male, wanderer Fighter 5/Mage (Conjurer) 5/Thief 6 S:14 I:16 W:7 D:14 C:15 Ch:8; HP:22; Thaco:16; AL:CN With corpse white skin, silver hair, red eyes, and pointed ears, Toki Trollborn looks striking - to say the least. Raised by the Dock-Alfar (drow), he escaped their underground realm less than two years ago, and has yet to find acceptance anywhere, surviving as a mercenary, hunter, and thief. Toki's magical training is very narrow - he knows only five or six conjuration/summoning and divination spells. Learning additional magic is a prime goal of his. ------------------------------ DRAGONWORLD - THE ISLANDS `Sada' - Half Drow Female, thief and spy for hire Fighter 6/Mage 6/Thief 9 S:14 I:14 W:9 D:16 C:12 Ch:11; HP:29; Thaco:15; AL:CN(E) Slender, dusky skinned, white haired `Sada' (merely one of many names she's used) hails from the underdark beneath Vulcan, where she was trained as a spy and sabateur for a band of drow wizards. Some years ago, she failed a mission for her dark elf masters and became a `free agent' rather than return to the underdark and face bloody punishment. Recently she was hired by the necromancer Hector to steal `Hades Book' from Plutos. She succeeded, but was shipwrecked on this desert isle on the way back. ------------------- Titos - Human Male, King of Daros ex Bard (Priest) 6*/Fighter 9 S:17 I:14 W:10 D:15 C:12 Ch:15; HP:46; Thaco:12; AL:N Titos, once a member of a priestly family devoted to Posiedon, found himself exiled when Hesperos became the high priest. Rather than fight, he gathered together a few dozen trusted retainers and set sail for Daros, eventually making himself master of this isolated isle (via a coup and political marriage). The locals tolorate his erratic rule. --------------------------- Alceus - Human Male, rebel spelljammer captain ex Mage (Diviner) 4/Fighter 9 S:17 I:15 W:15 D:9 C:11 Ch:13; HP:50; Thaco:12; AL:N Red haired and flamboyant Alceus, formerly a student sage at Hermos, is captain of the crashed rebel spelljammer `Bolt'. HECATE Vania - Human Female, Sorceress Mage (Conjurer) 16 S:14 I:17 W:13 D:13 C:16 Ch:14; HP:32; Thaco:15; AL:CE(CN) Vania is pale skinned with long straight black hair, favoring low cut black dresses to wizards robes. She is self centered, arrogant, and paranoid in the extreme, seeing others as disposable objects and ruthlessly destroying all rivals within the circle (any wizards of 12th or greater level). Formerly a minor Regian aristocratic who took to the study of magic, Vania rapidly rose through the ranks of the Grand Conjurers Circle. Upon reaching the Circles upper ranks, she learned of the existence of Hecate (used by the Circle as a sort of headquarters and refuge), and embarked on a twenty year long campaign to make this world her own. Three years ago she succeeded, exiling one rival and killing two others. Now she is Hecates nominal ruler - though she fathoms only a fraction of its secrets. -------------------- Msilbix - Mongrelman Male, Mongrelman Leader Mage (Diviner) 3/Thief 7 S:11 I:15 W:15 D:15 C:9 Ch:4; HP:14; Thaco:17; AL:LN Msilbix is well... indescribably ugly. He dislikes Vania, but serves her anyway, though he does warn visitors about her. He is the leader and spokesbeing of the Mongrelmen. ------------------------- Custos (the Watcher), Undead human male, Guardian of Secure Mage (lich) 18 S:4 I:18 W:16 D:5 C:5 Ch:2; HP:50; Thaco:9; AL:CE A former apprentice of the Grand Conjurer who turned to Necromancy out of morbid curiosity and a desire for immortality, Custos is charged with watching over the vault of arcane artefacts on Secure. He performs this task somewhat erratically, often times even denying access to members of the Grand Conjurers Circle (he regards himself as the Grand Conjurers only `true' successor). Physically, Custos is a skeleton of yellowed bone clad in the tatters of a black robe, barely capable of movement anymore. Likely, he will become a demilich in a few more decades. Agate - Gnome female, explorer Fighter 7/Mage (Illusionist) 7 S:15 I:15 W:8 D:16 C:11 Ch:14; HP:33; Thaco 14; AL:N(G) Agate, along with several other gnomes, arrived on Hecate from Bel some months ago, and has since been engaged in a comprehensive survey of this worldlet - a survey that cost the lives of two of her teammates on Monstrum, and another on Secure. Currently, she and the other survivng gnome are dwelling amongst the lycanthropes of Freeward. If asked, she is quite willing to supply (at exhaustive length) the information she has aquired about Hecate. ---------------------- R'tak - Weretiger Male Fighter 6/Bard 7 S:17 I:15 W:10 D:16 C:13 Ch:16; HP:35; Thaco:15; AL:N Special: silver or +1 to hit Big, broad chested, with a mane of reddish hair, handsome R'tak is a prominent member of the lycanthrope community on Freeward, responsible for adjucating disputes, remembering the past, and profering entertainment. He is fascinated with Agates tales of the other worlds of this sphere, and contemplating leaving with her. R'tak has no spellcasting ability. ---------------------- Groentaf - Minotaur male Fighter 8 S:18/55 I:11 W:9 D:11 C:16 Ch:10; HP:77; Thaco:11; AL:N(C) Strong, broken horned, and subject to fits of intense rage, Groentaf was a former bodyguard to one of Vania's slain rivals who escaped to Freeward after his masters demise. Currently, he dwells in a isolated shack near Freewards northern promentory. He can, however, provide some usefull information about the workings of the Grand Conjurers Circle. Among other things, he knows where all the mines of Secure are at, a secret way into the circles manor on Estate, and the location of the Gate from Hecate to Delphos. DELPHOS Bane - Human Male, Wizard in Hiding ex Fighter 7/Mage (Conjurer) 12 S:17 I:17 W:10 D:10 C:17 Ch:9; HP:60; Thaco 14; AL:N(L) Until a few years ago, Bane was one of Vania's partners - until Vania tried to kill him to secure her power, forcing him to flee to Delphos via a magical device. Much of the local populace, inspired by rabble rousing fanatics and old legends, thinks him the archtypical evil wizard. Actually, he's more helpfull than destructive (though very grouchy). -------------------------------- Xenia - Human Female, `Governess' Bard (Priestess) 12* S:13 I:13 W:11 D:14 C:11 Ch:15; HP:29; Thaco:15; AL:LN(LG) Xenia is a prime example of `awefull good' alignment, being utterly unwilling to accept compromise of any sort. So far, her inflammatory speeches have actually made things worse, not better, creating what amounts almost to a mini-civil war. ---------------------- Feodor - Human Male, `Hero' Thief 9 S:17 I:13 W:8 D:17 C:10 Ch:18; HP:24; Thaco:16; AL:CN Feodor looks the part of a champion - strong, good looking, charismatic - but a champion he's not. He claims to have traveled to most of the worlds in this sphere, fighting monsters and Invaders; but while the traveling part is true, the fighting part isn't. Sneaking about, filching anything that wasn't nailed down and watched would be more accurate. And he's always looking for more marks... ------------------------ R'Illeea - Tabaxi Female, `Prophetess' Mage (Diviner) 3/Priestess 3/Thief 3 S:12 I:15 W:15 D:15 C:11 Ch:13; HP:11; Thaco:19; AL:CG R'Illeea, a felis clan tabaxi from Suynama, wound up on this world by accident, and has been having a blast ever since. For obscure and complex theological reasons, certain vital religious rituals here call for the presence of a cat figure (cats represent mystery) - usually taken care of in the past by a human acolyte wearing a mask - until the newly arrived R'Illeea turned up in the midst of one such ceremony, with comical results. She (mostly) enjoys parading around in her all encompassing monks robe and hood, startling folks and offering heavily accented cryptic comments and outrageous advice while filching small interesting looking objects. --------------------------- Rak - Minotaur Male, `The Vile Beast' Ranger 7 S:19 I:13 W:14 D:14 C:18 Ch:8; HP:50; Thaco:14; AL:CG Originally from Hecate, Rak was something of an outcast until falling in with a group of entertainers, who made him part of their performance (involving acrobats doing handsprings on his horns). When not involved with them, he dwells in a small cabin in remote glade. Currently, Xenia is trying to rile up the populace against him, seeing Rak as a `vile creature of evil'. ----------------------- Demetrius - Human Male, Merchant Thief 7 S:11 I:13 W:8 D:14 C:11 Ch:11; HP:20; Thaco:15; AL:CN A thin pinch faced older man, Demetrius puts on a convincing face of piety (fooling even Xenia) but is really motivated only by greed. Not only will buy, sell, or trade nearly anything - gouging his customers when possible - he is also the master of an incipient `thieves guild' that filches various items from all over the planetiod. ------------------------ Eneas - Human Male, Cult Enforcer Fighter 5 S:16 I:8 W:8 D:11 C:16 Ch:13; HP:30; Thaco:16; AL:LN Good looking, slender figure, slicked back black hair. Eneas is so fully brainwashed by Xenia that he is almost a robot. He constantly tries (and fails) to impose `Apollo's Law' on the worldlets less than impressed inhabitants. BEL BEL - LUGH: King Cadwin - Human Male, Ruler of Lugh Fighter 4 S:14 I:14 W:11 D:11 C:12 Ch:14; HP:23; Thaco:17; AL:LG New arrivals of the friendly sort in Lugh are almost always invited to meet the king sooner or later; after all Lugh is a quiet place and he has only a few thousand subjects. Usually, visitors are invited to a `state dinner' (actually a large informal meal), and are asked to share news, gossip, ect. ------------------------ Angarhad - Female Human ex Bard 4/Fighter 5 S:17 I:13 W:9 D:15 C:11 Ch:15; HP:17; Thaco:16; AL:NG This firey red haired young woman craves adventure and excitement, giving up a nice safe career singing about hero's in order to become one herself. She is a cousin to the king, which is why she is permitted to indulge herself. ------------------------ Neb - Human Male, Mariner and Merchant Fighter 5 S:13 I:10 W:17 D:11 C:10 Ch:11; HP:25; Thaco:16; AL:N(L) Neb is one of the few captains to sail the waters of the Manannan Ocean, mostly plying a set route between Lugh and Refuge, but also stopping off at the odd temporary barbarian encampment. A silent, thoughtfull sort, Neb is contemplating retiring to the priesthood in a few more years. -------------------------- BEL - WHEREAREWE Muggin `Mug' - Gnome Male, community leader Fighter 5 S:11 I:15 W:16 D:11 C:12 Ch:15; HP:28; Thaco:16; AL:NG Muggin is the anchoring personality of the gnomish community, the level head who keeps things from getting too far out of control. He is currently worried about the security of the teleport gate link with Vulcan. -------------------- `Izzi' - Gnome Male, Sage Mage (Illusionist) 14/Thief 7 S:11 I:18 W:13 D:16 C:11 Ch:14; HP:33; Thaco:16; AL:CG `Izzi' - a contraction of a much longer and seldom used name (even by the other gnomes), is the archtypical absentminded professor and eccentric inventor type (his thief level reflects his mechanical abilities, not a larcenous nature). He is a knowledgable sage, and probably one of the most powerfull wizards on Bel. --------------------- `Mack' - Dwarf Male, Security Chief and Explorer Fighter 7/Thief 9 S:17 I:14 W:11 D:15 C:15 Ch:13; HP:41; Thaco 14; AL:LN(G) `Mack' is the archtypical dwarven grouch, in charge of what passes for security at Wherearewe. He is often absent with prospecting expeditions. In addition to his fighting and thief skills, he has a number of `wild' psionic abilities. (He originally came to Wherearewe seeking training for his psionic talents - his uncontrolled psionic outbursts had made him a near outcast. The gnomes `training' helped - some.) ---------------------- BEL - REFUGE: Arachne - Human Female, Rebel Leader Militant Mage (Invoker) 15 S:16 I:16 W:11 D:16 C:16 Ch:15; HP:42; Thaco:6; AL:LN(N) Arachne, formerly of the `Bloody Hands' mage circle, is an intently disciplined warrior mage who has survived dozens of battles against the Invaders. She see's Bel in general and Refuge in particular as nothing more than a base of operations, a place to regroup, train, and test new spells. Her own spells come soley from the schools of Abjuration, Alteration, Divination, and Invocation/Evocation; many come from her copy of the `High Book of War' (possibly the only one left). Basically, she lives for the next battle. ----------------------------------------- Pericles - Human Male, Hero ex Bard (Priest) 5*/Ranger 11 S:17 I:17 W:11 D:17 C:17 Ch:17; HP:101; Thaco:10; AL:CG A literal son of Dionysus, Pericles spent his youth in a temple, muttering prayers and singing hyms - until Dionysus took note of his offspring, at which point things became highly complicated and exciting - to say the least. Before things died down, two dragons, three Invader commanders, and several assorted monsters (along with an impressive number of Invader troops) were dead, and Pericles had embarked on a whirlwind tour of the sphere, spending time on Olympus, Suynama, Hecate, and Delphos before winding up here. Currently, Dionysus seems to have momentarily forgotten his offspring, which has Pericles breathing a sigh of relief... ------------------------ BEL - THE BARBARIANS Cletus - Centaur Male, Chieftan Fighter 7/Bard 8 S:16 I:13 W:13 D:13 C:18 Ch:15; HP:40; Thaco:14; AL:N(G) Known for being able to run all day (and then drink all night), Cletus has been chief of Bel's centaur clan for the past twenty years. He is friendly enough, though overly prone to lewd remarks and off color songs (though he also has a excellent repitore of religious music as well). ----------------------- Conyn - Human Male, Barbarian Chieftan Ranger 10 S:18/05 I:9 W:14 D:17 C:17 Ch:9; HP:90; Thaco:11; AL:CG Conyn is a man who is watching a way of life vanish before his eyes. In his youth, his semi-nomadic tribe numbered nearly five hundred. By the time he passed his test of manhood and became a Hunter, they were down to half that. Now, ten years later - five years after becoming chieftan - Conyns tribe numbers barely a few score. And the enemy inflicting all this damage? Civilization. More and more of the human barbarians, at least, are settling down at favored `great camps', some of which are beginning to look more like towns than camps. Conyn figures that in a few more years whats left of his tribe will have vanished alltogether. He won't admit it, but his own uninspiring (mostly absentee) leadership is in large part to blame. -------------------------- BEL - THE PYRAMIDS Leander - Human Male, Scholar and Explorer ex Mage (Diviner) 4/Thief 5 S:11 I:16 W:16 D:17 C:14 Ch:14; HP:14; Thaco:18; AL:LG(NG) Now entering into middle age, with a balding head and a bit of a paunch, a decade ago Leander was a minor sage at Hermos who fell afoul of the Invaders. At that point, life became rather exciting - a seemingly nonstop sequence of battles and close calls, eventually landing him here. Regarded by the locals (the Rebels especially) as a scholarly pest and storehouse of useless information, Leander is currently inspecting the pyramids, trying to determine their origin. ------------------ R'Leuk - Tabaxi Male, Hermit Fighter 5/Thief 6 S:14 I:14 W:14 D:18 C:13 Ch:11; HP:17; Thaco:16; AL:N(G) A felis clan tabaxi from Suynama, R'Leuk has a burning curiosity about everything - including the humans who came and went so mysteriously, a curiosity that eventually brought him to Refuge. Being more interested in exploration than in defeating the Invaders, R'Leuk left that militant community and has since wandered most of the planet. He is on excellent terms with Leander. ---------------------- Ni'zali (`the Phantom') - Drow Male, Outcast Mage 7/Thief 8 S:14 I:17 W:11 D:18 C:11 Ch:11; HP:28; Thaco:16; AL:CN Ni'zali was always a marginal member of dark elf society; it is no great wonder that he eventually had to flee. He has been skulking around the Pyramids for months now, investigating the camps of the various scholars and hermits, trying to determine his next move (whether he should ally or rob from them). He hates daylight but fears remaining underground, fearing that one of his enemies from the underdark will come upon him at any moment. Some of the surface dwellers here are aware somebody is prowling about at night, but do not know who or what (hence the nickname `Phantom'). ----------------------------- BEL - CROSS Z'Nax - Tabaxi Lord Mage 7 S:15 I:14 W:14 D:14 C:11 Ch:13; HP:40; Thaco:13; AL:CE Z'Nax's once powerfull frame has run to fat, and he now sports an enormous belly. He arrived here via a one shot teleport device taken from a dead human wizard, which he activated in desperation to avoid being killed by a rival tabaxi lord. For the past couple of years, Z'Nax has been the ruler of Cross, partly because of his magical skills (he killed or ran all the other petty mages out of town years ago), and partly because of his clanmates who were transported here with him. These half dozen tabaxi (four of them female) include two mid level fighter/thieves and obey Z'Nax's every whim, making them a formidable unit. ---------------------- Varnak Mus (The Rat): Human Male, Informer and Thief Thief 7 S:10 I:10 W:11 D:14 C:11 Ch:10; HP:16; Thaco:17; AL:NE A small man with a protruding nose, beady black eyes, and a perpetual whine, Varnak Mus is a fixture in Cross: now begging, now selling rumors, now commiting acts of petty theft or acting as a middleman for those with bolder schemes. He has what amounts to a sixth sense regarding personal danger and always finds some way to escape with his skin (more or less) intact.
