The Regian Calander, dated from the founding of Regia is used as a base.
?: The Creation
-3000?: Arrival (hatching) of the Dragons on Dragonworld -
specifically Dragon Mountain on Dragonhome.
-2200?: Arrival of the elves.
-2000?: Founding of Sinaliel.
-1500?: A gate established between Sinaliel and the asteriod
Alfar.
-600?: Arrival of several thousand `Greek' humans in western
Panthea, who immediately begin building villages.
-250?: Arrival of a few thousand `Celtic' humans in
north-central Panthea.
By this time, the `Greek' humans number well into
the tens of thousands (50,000 - 70,000). The
villages that will become Cronus, Jovus-Hera,
Uranos, and Demeter are all established.
-200: The `Celtic' humans found Bel.
-100: Arrival of several thousand `Black' humans in southern
Dragonhome. They are mostly ignored by the Dragons.
1: Founding of Regia when five of the `Greek' towns unite.
150: The five founding villages of Regia begin a campaign of
alliance and expansion.
200?: Arrival of a Pyramid spelljamming ship on the planet
Bel. Its undead (?) crew builds two more pyramids,
then the crew vanishes.
230: By this point, Regia includes all or nearly all of the
`Greek' villages, and covers a quarter of Panthea.
240-300: Series of wars between Regia and Bel. Bel is
eventually destroyed. Many of Bel's inhabitants are
brought (initially as slaves) into Regian society.
Others flee, some to the wilds of Panthea, some to
Dragonhome, others (via a gate) to the planet Bel.
310: First contact between Sinaliel and Regia.
320-340: Panthea's dragons attempt to become Regias rulers.
They are opposed by Regia's hero's, notably Gilos
`Godborn' and Titos `the Strong'.
340: The Banishing. Panthea's dragons are banished to
Dragonhome after losing a contest of their own
devising to the hero's Gilos and Titos. Gilos is
slain in the contest, but his son Gregorious takes
his place. Titos vanishes afterwards, fate unknown.
350: Gregorious I, son of Gilos, becomes the first Regian
Emperor.
350 - 600: First Golden Age of Regia. Development of magic,
arts, government, ect at a peak. Regian explorers
establish outposts on Dragonhome and chart (but do
not settle) Southreach. A network of stone paved
roads is built between the various Regian cities.
Aside from a few skirmishes with Sinaliel, and the
odd `police action' to supress slave revolts or
bring the odd wayward city-state in line, Regia is
mostly peacefull.
587: The Grand Conjurer opens a gate between Dragonworld and
the Asteriod Delphos, at the behest of Apollo's
clergy. Delphos becomes a sort of `mystic retreat'
for Apollo's clergy and other followers, who
benefit from personal instruction by the `Son of
the Great Dragon' dwelling there.
590 - 640: Regian society unravels. The nobility is mired in
decadence and prefers engaging in internal feuds to
dealing with basic adminstrative matters. The
result is near economic collapse, multiple slave
revolts, ect., finally culminating in civil war.
594: Intrigued by his earlier effort, and seeing the need
for a refuge, the Grand Conjurer opens a Gate
between Dragonworld and Hecate, which he then turns
into a fortress and laboratory.
599: Daros, a powerfull Alterationist and sometime associate
of the Grand Conjurer manages to create a teleport
link between Dragonworld and Bel. Over the course
of the next two dozen years, over a thousand
Regians pass through this portal. Daros also
creates teleport links between Dragonworld,
Suynama, and other worlds in this sphere.
620: Seeing a chance to resolve the internal crisis (by
becoming wizard king of all Regia), the Grand
Conjurer returns to Dragonworld, only to find
himself captured almost immediately. He is executed
after a year of torture.
625: Daros killed in the civil war sweeping Regia, along
with his two best apprentices. The vast bulk of his
work is lost - as is the teleport link with Bel.
640 - 870: The Broken Empire. Regia, at this stage, consists
of half a dozen squabbling city states, many of
them autocratic tyrannies. Monsters such as
basilisks, chimera's, hydra's, minotaurs, and
ogres, once a minor nuisance, appear in greater
numbers, wreaking havoc. Much of the lore of
earlier times is lost. Increasing numbers of
people flee Panthea for Dragonhome.
660: Medwyr I founds the kingdom of Lugh on Bel.
700: A fleet of lizardman spelljammers enters the crystal
sphere. After a brief survey of Dragonworld (still
remembered in mangled legends), they elect to
settle on Suynama.
720: Arrival of several thousand `viking' humans on
Dragonhome, along with `norse' dwarves. They
promptly establish themselves in Southreach.
790: The `viking' humans become aware of both Panthea and
Dragonhome, and begin sporadic raiding and trading
with both on a small scale.
800: Appearance of the tabaxi (as near as can be determined
from their own accounts) on Suynama.
850-949: Time of the Divine Champions. Appearance of the
twin heroes Kyros and Milos. Claiming divine
parentage, these two eradicate several powerfull
monsters and claim overlordship of Cronus.
860-930: The raids of the `viking' barbarians on southern
Regian increase in number and severity.
868: The Divine Champion Milos is slain during a bloody coup
attempt in Apollos, which also closes the Gate to
Delphos. Those on Delphos are left to their own
devices for the next several centuries.
871: The High Council of Priests. Desperate to end the
strife - and seeing a way to increase their own
power - the combined High Priests of Regia throw
their full support behind the Divine Champions
Altair (the `Son of Zeus'), Jason, Orestes, and
Zorba.
875-890: The Unity Wars. Altair and the other Divine
Champions, backed by the priesthood, gradually
unite Regia - turning it into a borderline
theocracy in the process.
881-930: Disliking the new theocratic order, a great many of
Regia's citizens flee to Dragonhome.
881: The Divine Champions take Jovus-Hera, killing King
Pericles (a hero in his own right). Orestes dies in
the fighting.
885: Nicais, hero and king of Posedos, leads a major
colonization fleet across the ocean to Dragonhome.
where he founds a `free state', not subject to the
reigning dragons.
887: Battle of Centaur Glen, last major conflict of the
Unity Wars. The Divine Champion Jason is killed
shortly thereafter in a minor skirmish just prior
to the fall of Posiedos.
889: End of the Unity Wars. The Divine Champion Altair
becomes the new Regian Emperor. He establishes the
current governing Triad (Priest/Noble/Commoner
Bureaucrat) and abolishes the old slave laws.
910: The `viking' humans stage a massive raid on southern
Regia, during which the hero Zorba is killed.
912: Death of Emperor Altair. His son Parmeno ascends
the throne.
920: First recorded visit of the Elven Imperial Fleet to
this sphere. They contact Sinaliel, then depart.
927: Nicais killed by the Dragons of Dragonhome while
attempting to expand his `free state'.
931: Edict of the Draconic Overlords. The dragon clans of
Dragonhome assume direct control over the humans
there, and put a halt to further immigration.
938: Regia, weary of the constant raids by the `viking'
humans, launches a massive counter-raid of its own,
led by Draco, the last of the Divine Champions.
Regia establishes outposts on Southreach.
939: The Divine Champion Draco deposes Emperor Parmeno,
and begins a ten year reign of terror.
940: The black dragons of Dragonhome are exiled to Suynama
along with two green dragons for violating the
Edict of the Draconic Overlords.
949: Emperor Draco, last of the Divine Champions, is
assassinated. His place is taken by Aristotle I,
`the Wise', who reforms and revises previous
imperial edicts.
950: The lizardmen and tabaxi of Suynama become aware of
each other. Contact is peacefull - mostly.
950 - 1200: Second Golden Age of Regia. During this period
Regia gradually expands, reaching more or less its
current boundaries. Much of Southreach is under
indirect Regian control, with as many as a fifth of
Southreaches `Jarls' being Regian puppets.
990: Determined to liberate `his' subjects from the `evil
dragon overlords', Emperor Altair III of Regia
attempts a conquest of Dragonhome - which rapidly
bogs down in internal feuding and backbiting.
1000?: Creation of the Blighted Lands on Suynama.
1005: Founding of the Metallix League in Dragonhome, a realm
where the draconic overlords grant their human
subjects great autonomy.
1010: After a long string of petty squabbles, Regia and
Sinaliel agree to establish the `March' as a buffer
zone between their two realms.
1050: Lana, first `Faerie Queens', appears in the March.
1080: Vision of Eurydice, a mystic in the Metallix League.
She goes on to found the Philosophy of Good.
1085-1101: Emperor Zeno II of Regia attempts to invade
Dragonhome, only to get himself killed in battle
shortly thereafter. The fighting drags on for
sixteen years before his successor Argus orders a
withdrawal. Regia's troops in Southreach recalled
during this time.
1101-1125: Regia's influence in Southreach collapses.
1120-1200: Its resources strained by the failed invasion,
Regia turns inward. The `Second Golden Age' is
still in effect; its just that Regia has little
interest in the world outside its boundaries. The
increasingly powerfull priesthood of Apollo is in
large part responsible for this attitude.
1129: Several badly damaged gnomish spelljammers land near
the city of Vulcan in Regia. After determining that
their vessels will never fly again, the gnomes are
integrated into Vulcan's society, where they become
valued for their mechanical abilities.
1128: Missionaries of the Philosophy of Good arrive in Regia
from Dragonhome, only to find themselves and their
movement denounced and outlawed by the clergy.
1130: A damaged and badly overloaded gnomish spelljammer,
lands on Bel, where its crew founds Wherearewe.
1140: A gnomish spelljammer makes a survey of Dragonspace.
1150-1181: Reign of Emperor Milos II, `the Philosopher
King', commonly regarded as the last of the truely
great Regian emperors of the second golden age.
1170: Castor, a powerfull Alterationist, tracks down ancient
accounts of the Grand Conjurer and Daros, then uses
that lore to create a teleport link between
Dragonhome and Bel. Afterwards, he opens another
link between Dragonhome and Suynama. Few folk are
willing to pass through these portals.
1182-1199: Reign of Gilos the Doomed, last emperor of
Regia's second Golden Age.
1190: A disciple of Castor discovers the tabaxi and
lizardmen of Suynama, and manages to establish
cordial relations with the former. Later, he begins
tutoring a few of the tabaxi in magic, and
transports small numbers to Dragonworld. The Felis
Tabaxi become almost civilized as a result.
1199 - 1202: The Shock. Regia's second Golden Age ends when
Emperor Gilos dies without heirs and several
noble and priestly factions attempt to claim the
throne by force. The result is a civil war that
see's Cronus depopulated before General Vasilis
siezes the throne and restores order.
1220-1240: Clash of Fur and Scale. Intrigue between Lizard
Kings and Tabaxi Lords sparks an extremely complex
and ultimately inconclusive conflict between
lizardman and tabaxi factions on Suynama, ending
with the tabaxi fractured and the Lizard King
dominated lizardmen exiled to the Mssuluu Swamp.
The Cattai tabaxi form the `Hidden Claw' ninja to
aid them in this struggle.
1228: A disciple of Castor in service to the priests of
Apollo reopens the Gate between Dragonworld and
Delphos, reestablishing contact with the
decendants of those stranded there.
1226: Death of Emperor Vasilis. A council of priests and
military officers assumes the Emperors duties.
1230 - 1330: Age of the Pretenders. A succession of weak
Emperors, dominated by intrigue ridden cabels of
nobles and priests, rules Regia. Services and
standards of living decline - roads fall into
disrepair and become plagued by bandits, trade
slows, and the `viking' humans renew their raids.
1250: The Call Back. Apollo's clergy begins a general
retreat to Apollo city, which they turn into an out
and out cult centre, maintaining only marginal and
token connections with the rest of Regia.
1270: Last recorded visit of the elven imperial fleet to
this sphere - just prior to the first Unhuman War.
1300: Arrival of the Invaders, who establish themselves on
Zephyr and spend the next thirty years evaluating
the various cultures of Dragonspace.
1301: Cronus abandoned after a huge earthquake.
1329: The Invaders begin meddling behind the scenes in
Regian politics, allying with some factions,
eliminating others.
1336: Fall of Regia. The Invaders put a puppet emperor,
Sebastian I, on Regia's throne.
1349: Sebastian I invades Dragonhome under Invader orders.
Several massive inconclusive battles occur.
1353: The Great Contest. Emperor Sebastian I killed in
battle. Desperate, the Invaders agree to settle the
war with a contest of champions - a contest which
they win. As a result the Draconic Overlords become
mere puppets of the Invaders.
1354: Lotun I chosen by the Invaders as Regia's Emperor.
1355: The Philosophy of Good, until now a minor movement,
undergoes rapid growth in Dragonhome and makes
some inroads Regia, despite being banned there.
1360: Conflict between the red dragons of Dragonhome over
whether or not to submit to the Invaders results in
several red dragons being exiled to Southreach.
1370: The Invaders attempt to conquor Suynama - but fail
miserably, taking only a small area.
1372: Death of Lotun I. The schemer Sebastian II becomes the
Regian emperor.
1388: Regian puppet emperor Sebastian II killed by the
Invaders and replaced by the closet rebel Lotun II.
1390: The Invaders attempt to annex Delphos - only to have
their assault fleet casually reduced to wreckage by
the `Son of the Great Dragon'. Unnerved, they stay
away from that world - and from Alfar as well after
a fleet of theirs lands there - and vanishes.
1392: The existence of Duagar and Drow priests of the
Philosophy of Evil confirmed for the first time.
1401-1410: The First Rebellion. Lotun II revolts against the
Invaders. For his efforts, Lotun II is killed and
an Invader Regent assumes direct control of the
empire. Lotun's II rebel army goes underground.
1410-1420: The Invaders create the Cleared Lands as a more
secure base from which to operate on Suynama.
1411: Makarios I appointed Emperor by the Invaders because
they can no longer spare the troops and other
resources for direct rule.
1411: The `kingdom' of Refuge founded on Bel as a
headquarters for the Rebellion. Rebel mages on
Suynama begin training tabaxi wizards in earnest.
1415-Present: Seeing Delphos as a possible refuge, the
Apollonian priests - now mostly fanatics - launch a
campaign to `correct the errors' of that worldlets
inhabitants. Their campaign makes little ground.
1416-1441: The Little Lords. Assassination of Makarios I,
replaced by five puppet emperors in quick order.
Their short reigns are corrupt and intrigue ridden.
1420: The expansion of the Cleared Lands on Suynama halted
when the Invaders loose most of an army to well
coordinated tabaxi and lizardmen attacks.
1430-Present: The Rebels begin systematically recreating the
old network of gates and teleport links between the
various worlds of this system.
1440-Present: The `viking' humans of Southreach effectively
annex the southern tip of Dragonhome.
1441-1488: Reign of Zorba the Strong as Regian emperor.
While Zorba obey's the Invaders, they still dislike
him, seeing his strong willed nature as a threat.
1489: Crowning of Avel, current puppet Emperor of Regia,
chosen by the Invaders for his malleable nature.
1490 - Present: Spelljammer explorers from outside the
Invaders empire rediscover Dragonspace.
1500 (Present): The Second Rebellion. While there have been
a few major battles, this Rebellion is being fought
mostly in the shadows and with small scale actions.
The Invaders find themselves too hard pressed
elsewhere to respond with overwhelming force.
